    My predicted winners in bold.

*Lyoto Machida Vs. Mauricio Rua* (want Shogun to win, and will probably lay money on him at 3/1 or 11/4, but my head says the "Machida Era" is longer than one fight.

*Cain Velasquez Vs. Ben Rothwell* (I feel like there's more of a realistic upset here though. Cain was hurt several times by Congo who failed to capitalise on it with a non-existant ground game. If Rothwell catches him with a punch and has the wherewithall to GNP the upset could be on. Have a feeling that Cain will just prove too well rounded and too good of a wrestler to allow Rothwell much target practice though)

*Gleison Tibau Vs. Josh Neer* (couldn't give a monkey's about this fight. Picking Neer on his punching alone)

*Joe Stevenson Vs. Spencer Fisher* (overdue a win. Needs to get back to his wreslting more to get the W.)

*Anthony Johnson Vs. Yoshiyuki Yoshida* (the momentum will continue)

Ryan Bader Vs. Eric Schafer (Schafer is worth a bet as he is a rank outsider in PP's book, but see this matchup a little like Rothwell's chances. Bader's strength likely to be a deciding factor)

Antoni Hardonk Vs. Pat Barry (meh)

Yushin Okami Vs. Chael Sonnen (pulling for Chael so he can pay his bills!! Was so delighted when he pulled out the win in his last fight, having taken it on short notice and having sounded borderline suicidal after his consecutive losses. For the sake of his family and all who love him he has to win!!!)

Jorge Rivera Vs. Rob Kimmons (nooooooo idea)

Kyle Kingsbury Vs. Razak Al-Hassan (see above)

Stefan Struve Vs. Chase Gormley ("Struvie-Baby" {to be said in a Mike Bizping accent} won a ton of respect and a bunch of fans with his amazing, bloodsoaked win from the brink of defeat in Cologne at UFC 99. He has more experience and about seven inches on Gormley (ooh matron!) expect him to do well here)

Missed that actually!! (hence my line)

Don't really bother with the Fight Night cards too much unless there's someone I'm particularly interested in fighting. Only saw the Diaz/Guillard fight about a week ago! Just can't bring myself to stay up that late for those cards.

Betting on these, main card only

*Lyoto Machida Vs. Mauricio Rua* (The Dragon obv)

*Cain Velasquez Vs. Ben Rothwell* (Rothwell will gas, Velasquez will repeated take him down)

*Gleison Tibau Vs. Josh Neer* (close but Tibau by split decision)

*Joe Stevenson Vs. Spencer Fisher* (Joe Daddy for me, has had 3 recent losses, but each were against the current top 3 LW guys)

*Anthony Johnson Vs. Yoshiyuki Yoshida* (Johnson lost recently due to an illegal blow, at least I think i remember that, eye poke, came back to KTFO, will out strike the undersized jap, TKO rd 2)

    Fight card;

*Lyoto Machida Vs. Mauricio Rua* Shogun to shown his Pride form.

*Cain Velasquez Vs. Ben Rothwell* Velasquez looked dodgy against Kongo standing up.

    *Gleison Tibau Vs. Josh Neer*

*Joe Stevenson Vs. Spencer Fisher* decision

    Ryan Bader Vs. Eric Schafer

  • Registered Users Posts: 14,393 ✭✭✭✭callaway92

surprused with how many people are saying Neer will beat Tibau..Tibau is probably the biggest lgithweight in mma...in his last match was robbed in a decision against Melvin Guillard...Tibau wil win that fight

    My money is on
Machida Old pride form or not I just can't see rua connecting too
    often against the elusive machida.
I don't see anybody getting close to machida in the near future
unfortunately, but its the ufc and anything can happen.

Johnson..as you said i think he'll have too many guns for yoshida

Velasquez...The way he walked through kongos best punches and
still drove him to the matt was amazing and kept it going for three
rounds despite almost having his head knocked off
The guys cardio is second to none and hes got a granite chin.
I see some people on other forums fancy rothwell
I just don't see it though..i think itll be a long painful fight for rothwell.

Bader..I think every aspect of his game is better than schafer and i expect
    him to win easily

Okami.. i dont think he should be on the undercard.
He isnt exciting to watch but i think he's way too good for the likes of sonnen
Another decision for okami for me
I just dont see how sonnen can beat him

the lot pays around 11/4 with paddy

In fairness i backed kongo to beat velas but it was stupid of me
given i didnt know what kind of fighter velasquez was and kongo
also cost me a nice bit when herring sat on him for the entire third round
kongos stand up is awesome but he falls short elsewhere
I dont think velas looked dodgy against kongo given he took kongos
best shot and still drove him to the mat so if kongos best punch cant
stop him i dont see how rothwell has a hope in that department
I thought velas was outstanding against kongo tho in fairness he
shouldnt be getting caught like that
its very hard to see anyone knocking him out and i dont know
what rothwell can do to stop him
its the ufc tho and more than likely ill get my fingers burnt again somehow

a very hard one to call but im with you on this one
i think tibau by a decision myself
should be a good one tho

Wow, A lot more people picking Shogun than I would have expected. The sherdog Pros pick only has two out of 23 picking him. I don't think it's as clear cut for Machida myslef but he will edge it in my opinion.

Rothwell will beat Cain though. Not too bothered about the rest but should be a good card all the same.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 13,126 ✭✭✭✭calex71

Anthony Johnson vs. Yoshiyuki Yoshida is a catch weight now , Johnson weighed in slightly over.

Fancy Johnson for this, could be a good fight but I think Johnson will put him away in the 1st like Koscheck did.

I can't wait to see which Shogun turns up tonight, winning would silence a lot of people :D

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,265 ✭✭✭Seifer

Gotta be Machida in the main event.

Any time I've seen Cain fight it's been so unimpressive. He can't finish anyone. So I'm hoping Rothwell will win or else Cain will lie on him all night.

On that note, Paddy Power are giving odds of 4/1 on a Rothwell knock out, anyone know if that includes TKO's?

Slightly over? He weighed in at 176, 6 lbs over the limit!

Tibau v Neer is a catchweight also, both weighed in over, 157, 156.5 respectively.

Ya I'd like to see Shogun win. I think he'll try and take it to the ground and win from there.

I did a €10 accumulator, my picks were

    *Lyoto Machida Vs. Mauricio Rua*

    *Cain Velasquez Vs. Ben Rothwell*

    *Gleison Tibau Vs. Josh Neer*

    *Joe Stevenson Vs. Spencer Fisher*

    *Anthony Johnson Vs. Yoshiyuki Yoshida*

    Ryan Bader Vs. Eric Schafer

    Antoni Hardonk Vs. Pat Barry

    Yushin Okami Vs. Chael Sonnen

    Jorge Rivera Vs. Rob Kimmons

    Kyle Kingsbury Vs. Razak Al-Hassan

    Stefan Struve Vs. Chase Gormley

Im a bit touch and go over Bader vs Schafer as i really like Schafer but think Bader will be too strong for him. Gormley is a bit of a wild guess for me also, but hey its only a tenner and its worth 500+ if they all come in for me

Got my bets in - usual randomness to make it more interesting.

50 cent bet on 7 underdogs nets me 1.7K for example.

*Lyoto Machida Vs. Mauricio Rua* - Just can't see Shogun beating him.

(On a side note from one of Dave Meltzer's yahoo articles - at the very end http://sports.yahoo.com/mma/news;_ylt=AoQ3gmnaKsKVVfRTeF4c7Go9Eo14?slug=dm-machida102309&prov=yhoo&type=lgns Machida vs. Brock. Awesome if it actually did happen.

    *Cain Velasquez Vs. Ben Rothwell*

    *Gleison Tibau Vs. Josh Neer*

    *Joe Stevenson Vs. Spencer Fisher*

    *Anthony Johnson Vs. Yoshiyuki Yoshida*

Overall this should be a really great show. Something to keep everyone happy me thinks.

OK im calling this before it happens, i got machidas last fight right down to the minute of the knock out so....

Machida knockout midway through the second.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 82 ✭✭mmafan81

I did a couple of bets to keep it interesting.....

    Machida - Rua

    Velasquez - Rothwell

    Tibau - Neer

    Johnson - Yoshida

    Fisher - Stevenson

3 euro(fourfolds) and on the underdog side.....

    Rua - Machida

    Rothwell - Velasquez

Stevenson - Fisher (not underdog but i dont think he'll win)

Johnson - Yoshida (not underdog, just to bump up the bet)

    again 3 euro(trebles)

i like to do trebles from 4 or fourfolds from 5 to give myself more of a chance, after all one punch can change a fight.

Its a longshot alright, as reflected by the odds... but IF shogun is to win, i think theres a half decent chance it will come via BRUTAL KO in the first.

Two of my favourites - Really hoping Shogun can return to his very best.

lol sig, Trailer park boys is friggin awesome

    Fecking bet gone already.....
    Gormley
in the second preliminary fight they showed on Spike(Prelim fights)

Went straight back to Paddy Power and all fights were removed bar the main event, they could have left the main card fights and knocked them off as they pass, it is live after all ... good to see the local betting sites are on the ball for the betting for these events :-(

Only bet left running is Stevenson to get ''Submission of the Night'' at 12/1, if he wins it should be a submission
