There is a large cock pheasant at the end of the field behind my house. The noise of the f***er everyday. See if he is as loud in ten days. :D

Maybe I'm just a wuss, but I can't shoot anything that lives in close proximity to the house, there are a few rabbits at the end of the garden that I won't touch and a cock pheasant who stands on the gate in the morning that I could never bring myself to go near. Anything in the fields I hunt in is fair game.

Its just a feeling of domestication when they're at your front door, You get used to seeing them,And think meh.

Spray paint a hen, cockrel or crow for that matter so the missus won't miss them. Then its fair game. :D

Don't know about the rest of ye but the birds are way down on previous years around here. I'm just hoping for a good frosty winter to bring in the woodcock.

Have you released any? How is your vermin control?

    9 days to go ....
I also have a couple of cock pheasants just beside the house but would not shoot them , actually like to have them arround

I keep a few around the fields near the house that no one shoots.
Keep a hopper for them so they hang around.
Great to have to a run the dogs for a half hour on a Friday. Esp the young dogs as young birds are good to sit... Nice to see them as well. Will remove most of the cocks if possible before they start breeding though to give the hens a chance.

There was 3 cocks and 4 or 5 hens down the bottom of the field the other day, all together(well, within 20yards). Thought it funny they were all together. Do you think they were released or is that normal?
