There seems to be a fair whack of people going to be entering their first ever meet early next year.

    are you one of them?
what weight class do you hope to compete in?
and what are your goals on the day?

    I'm hoping to compete.
110-125kg weight class. (current weight 115kg)
Goals are to get a good lift on all 9 and to post a 500kg total.

    Good idea for a thread.
I hope to make my debut at the same event, ill probably be competing at around 90-95 kg and if im like 2kg above the next weight class down ill probably just cut a bit.
Goals are to get a 180kg deadlift
90kg bench and a 110-120kg squat depending on how training goes. Would love a 400kg total but dont see it happening :D

I'm planning on being there, probably around 90kg or a bit under. If I make weight at 85kg I'd be happy with a 425kg total for 5x bodyweight but it'll take lotsa training! Mainly i'm just going for the experience.

if i ever train again then im shooting for a 145kg + bench at 90kg.

Sorry to hear that. Best of luck with the recovery.

Should be a great comp. Best problem ever is too many lifters.

Apparently Rathcoole is going to be the venue.

Hopefully Barry & Will will be bringing a team of debutants from Informed Performance too. I'll have to pester them about it at Wendlerstock.

    Where's Rathcoole?

Also, squod, sorry but I was pulling the piss, should have included a smilie or something. I dunno what's wrong with L's back.

seriously at this stage would it not be easier to have boards powerlifting club that you could all enter under:D

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,037 ✭✭✭bigstar

i hope to be there in feb too. it depends on how my shoulder gets on though, i havent benched in about a month or more, squatting a little though.

i probably be in the 75kg class.

goals were 150kg squat, 90-100kg bench and whatever deadlift i could but ill see how training goes when i get back to it proper, seems a way off atm.

Might as well say it, I hope to compete too. I've been thrown off course a bit because I've been sick the last six-seven weeks, but if all goes well over the next few days will have joined a new gym next week. Hope to compete under 90kg, but wouldn't be too bothered if I came in over that for the first competition, so long as my belt fitted ok.

What are the weight classes for something like this?

Not that I'd be looking to compete.. I'm only a newb at this powerlifting malarky :P
Just curious to see what kind of level there would be for my weight.

I'm currently under 70kgs, should be able to deadlift around the 130kg, squat around the 80kg mark and benching just under my bodywieght.

.. most of these are only projected however, as I'm doing the 5-3-1 program but I'd be pretty confident of hitting them.

    Jaysus, powerlifting buzz ftw.

I'm hoping to be there aswell.

I want to go 400kg++, at around 85kg. Not too bothered about what i weigh in at, there doesn't seem to be much point in worrying over your weight before you've even got near a bar at a comp!

    Good to see the interest.

    I too would like a t-shirt!

Does anyone have a link to the site for the Irish Powerlifting association? And what are the weight classes?

I have been toying with the idea of competing on the bench, I'm 72kg and am doing my sets on the flat bench at 100kg+ these days so I reckon my max is 130kg+.

Cheers. I had been hoping that there was a 70kg class and I could lose 2kg and get my bench up a bit but I guess that if I'm going for it it'll have to be in the 75kg class. I guess that I'll have to think about cutting down on my 4 cardio sessions per week!!
