not really kicked off here yet, though I came across about five big prickets the other evening with about four does, the pricketts starting headbuttin each other long enough to be distracted for me to get within 120 yards and head butt one with a 308

The stags are few and far between but the amount of Doe's is great. Good size too. Have let a few Pricketts go lately as it hardly seems worth the bother but if the Does are still around come Nov 1st then happy days.

yeah rut is flying in wicklow also with plenty of stags about, was out on sat morning and got to within 150 yards of (the boss) a superb Sika 8 pointer. A nice kneeling shot with my .308 in the neck put him down the pecking order ha ha. I have a few Silver heads and this one looks as good if not better than all of them so just maybe a gold and to be fair one of my sweeter take downs.

This guy was already nice a ripe and buffed up, thought it was early but the place is alive with whistles. Time for the fun to start with the callers, I love this stage of the season

its to warm , the stags are not rutting strong a hour in the morning and eve .

the full moon is not helping.

yeah agreed its still too warm. This guy was suprisingly very stinky and active. I have been following him for last couple of years and this is as early as I have seen him like this.

    You could be right.
All i know is, 3 years ago, in creggs and Ballygar area, their was a lot of fallow bucks rutting and the deer population was far higher then it is now.
I have been talking to a few local farmers, they say their was a lot of deer shooters, killing big bucks and just taking the heads, leaving the carcasses to rot, the farmers wont too happy, but they could not find iut who it was.
Another thing i heard, was someone in higher authority, who should of known better, was culling them left right and center, bringing in tourist shooters ect, so no wonder the population has crashed...
Its sickenning really and a dam shame, mans greed i cal it...:(
