    That was so unexpected...damn!

Really shows he was doing this legit.!

Ah unlucky. At least it shows that he is human and does make mistakes. If he got it right there'd be people questioning his authenticity again so at least they have nothing to question this time.

I'm greatful that the person will get his money back. I bet the production company never saw that coming :D

does any1 else think he failed on purpose to make the other tricks seem real??

Am I the only one that thinks that by missing by 1 place, he actually (tried to) validate the fact that he is fallable, and not setting it up?

I mean the show would have pulled in tons of viewers ($$$$$$$) so it being fake or real might have nothing to do with it. It was good televsion regardless, so they could just be "milking" it?

hahah I was literally about to reply with "does it?" and give a similar post.

I'm very suspicious that this was faked. The whole episode was very different to others.

First of all, he could easily go to jail for STEALING £5000 straight out of someones bank account if this was real.

Second of all, how would he KNOW the guy would just happen to be watching his show?

Third of all, I find it extremely hard to believe that he could just predict where that girl's throw would land when she threw the ball. Especially after about half a second.

Fourth of all, being able to predict the SPEED AND MODEL AND YEAR of a car just from the SOUND on a very busy road?

    Sorry, but yeah right.

Exactly, he was getting awful abuse over the other shows being staged, and tonights one looked overly staged too.

It was all a hoax. If they had got the number right, they'd have had to have given Ben £180k. If it were a real casino it would be illegal. He said he couldn't smuggle in the equipment to scan the wheel. How come he could smuggle in his camera and transmission equipment? Also, if he took 5k sterling, how come the bet was 10 500s if he is in mainland Europe. Eurozone it would be 11 500s anyway.

With the squash court the chance is that it would land in one of 30 squares. 30 times with different volunteers and hey presto.

The whole thing is just a trick.

i disagree with your 2nd point, he would have to have up to 30 guests for each number .....they throw ball, derren guesses number 1 for example, it lands in no. 2, wrong!

TBH I thought it was fake when he called yer man and he was sweating profusely, you don't sweat that much sitting watching the tv, that's when I turned it over. Shame really I would have liked to see the ending.

No, he only had one correct guess. Given the way the ball was thrown it was not going to land in the 2 rows furthest from where she was standing. Nor was it going to land in the two leftmost columns. Chances are it could be narrowed down to ten numbers. Easy to then do.

Not really as the edges of the numbers were raised makiing it quite unpredictable. Also you could see that it went across the room a couple of times.

It went off the left, then back then right wall, as per his instructions so it's easy to identify a lot of places it won't land.

Anyway, back to the casino bit, if he could read the roulette wheel, roulette would be illegal. Same with his lottery trick.

I don't really understand the need for the quiet eastern European casino where he wouldn't be recognised.

I'd say any casino would be absolutely delighted to have him there, especially if he actually won. Nothing like one guy winning big to have thousands more flocking in thinking they can win too.

I'm usually a fan, but this series seems pretty crap.

yes because all the people watching live in eastern europe....

It was clearly a staged fail. Otherwise the trick would be a guy with a crappy "live feed" going into a "casino" ( which didnt seem very busy) and guessing a number which came out correctly. That could be done in any number of ways. The thing only seems hard, it only seems that he is doing it the way he pretends - judging the velocity of the ball - if he fails by one.

Not very good TV. For the Derren brown fans ( and I think he is good live, but the evnts were ****e...) imagine that that last ten minutes were from Paul Daniels. Same setup, same result.

    Think it good now?

You may have missed my point.

I was saying that he didn't need to go somewhere undercover where he wasn't recognised.

He could have gone to a big casino in somewhere like Vegas where they would be delighted to have the publicity and hope that it brought in more punters who thought there was a way to beat the system.

Big winners are great for business for casinos.

Hes more then likely bared from the vegas ones. Seen a interview with Keith Barry before and he was only aloud into 1 or 2 casinos in vegas so i guess it would be the same for Darren Brown if not worse

That's a good point. He might be barred as a punter but I'm sure the production company could work out an arrangement though.

Yes folks, this was the "Oh look he failed, therefore it all must be real" episode. Ugh, what BS.

TV shows don't hypnotise people and take their money any more than they point cameras in people's houses and drag the bewildered occupants outside. How could they get away with such behaviour? Besides, Jedi mind tricks don't work outside of Star Wars.

I really hope there's some big payoff soon, as this series has been pretty LAME. Talk about fake, cheap stooge-ridden nonsense.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,185 ✭✭✭asdasd

Thats it. It's over. No payoff. Overall crap, but I liked the third one, though it didnt work on me it did on some people I know.

He hypnotised him alright. He never took his money though, that was misdirection. He just gave him an envelope and told him to return it after. The filming from the street is perfectly fine as a) its a public place and b) He had volunteered for the show and presumably signed lengthy T+Cs.

I haven't seen a stooge all series, its often far too easy to blame stooges, IMO, he didnt use one anywhere, and didnt need to.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,536 ✭✭✭Mark200

You mean he's not really magic!

That's not the point. He doesn't claim to be magic, he tries to make out that he's just an extremely clever person who is extremely good at maths and that that's how he does all these things.

Yeah, especially when he was giving the guy directions to the truck.

    "Just a bit further"

    When he was almost there

    "There you go"

Right as he reached the entrance to the truck, quickly followed by "I can't see you, are you there yet?"
