Can anyone back up the following statements:

The MGM lion was from Dublin Zoo? :D

McDonalds in Rathfarnham was the first drive thru in Europe? :D

Smithfield is the largest urban plaza in Europe? :D

Tesco in Clarehall is the biggest in Europe? :D

The M50 is the longest motorway in Europe? :D

Dublin airport is the busiest airport in Europe? :D

Don't you just hate it when you hear a new one?
I mean until the new eastern countries were accepted into the EU a few years back, Dublin was the smallest capital city in Europe. How could we have the biggest this and that if we were the smallest?
I mean the one about the lion is just stupid. It's not even a real lion. It's an animation. :)

Please add any others you've heard.

Griffith Avenue, which runs through Drumcondra and Marino, is the longest tree lined Avenue in the Northern Hemisphere with no retail outlets.

Cork City is the best city in the world.

    That is all.

No the lion wasn't from Dublin zoo but the recording of the roar was. Or at least that's what I heard.

Basically they got a prettier lion for the shoot and our talented Irish lion to do the roar. Kinda like that Chinese kid at the Olympics last year.

It's all a hang up from the inferiority complex we have.

Remember..Dundrum is the biggest shopping centre in Europe appartenly...

Just shows what idiots we are for shopping.

He was born in Dublin Zoo
Slats[2] was the first lion used for the newly-formed studio. He was born at Dublin Zoo, Ireland on March 20, 1919.[3]

    Drive-Thru
The first Drive-Thru in Europe opened in Ireland at Nutgrove Shopping Centre in 1985. It has since been
re-branded to McDriveTM to reflect a more European approach.

That's stretching it a bit to sound impressive
What's next? Ennis is the biggest town in Munster with exactly 534 square manhole covers and 1.345% of their population with of their initials S.M.

That's a bit ridiculous tbh-there's only about 100 square manhole covers in Ennis.

From some googling it would appear Tesco Arena in Coventry is the largest in europe.

Bundesautobahn 7 (translates from German as Federal Motorway 7, short form Autobahn 7, abbreviated as BAB 7 or A 7) is the longest German Autobahn and the longest national motorway in Europe at 963 km (602 mi).

I can debunk that after mesuring them both.
In letterkenny, Main street upper and lower are 741m combined. Dorset street upper and lower are 1116m combined. Dorset street kicks its ass!
Sheriff St. Upper on it's own is 912m. Combine it with Lower and it's 1579m, over double Main street in letterkenny!

Leo the Lion (real name Mary) is the mascot for the Hollywood film studio Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer and one of its predecessors, Goldwyn Pictures, featured in the studio's production logo, which was created by the Paramount Studios art director Lionel S. Reiss.[1]
