us girly's are renound for day dreaming of things we would love in life or things we would like to experience.

for the past 2 years mine has been a fetish for Louis Vuitton bags. everytime i'm in BT i have to go through the Louis section but terrified to stick around there in case someone tries to sell me something. ( i'm a broke student) so people my dream came true when i was presented with very gorgeous louis handbag. i don't know what looked better the bag and box it came in or the bag it'self.

ive always had far away girly dreams but this is the first one that came true for me. what are your girly dreams???

My girly dream = Liberate the women of the world still under regimes of oppression.

I think i'l start with.. you.

Its an over priced piece of leather/plastic. Advertising has told you it will will make you like the models in the ads so as to get thousands of euro out of you. Dont give them your time or money something like a handbag cannot make a person happy.

Thats hardly fair..... It HAS made her happy - just because she may have different dreams to you doesn't make them invalid!

It would make me happy!!! I bought a second hand Marc jacob bag... which didn't cost me thousands but the day i got it, i was actually the happiest lady around...

Now, my girlie dream is to have a walk in wardrobe where i walk into a lit up wardrobe, full to the brim of shoes..... all kinds of shoes!!! :)

    I disagree completely.

Just because I get all gooey over a beautiful handbag does not make me any less of an empowered woman.

Sigh. Wouldn't it be nice just to be able to have a frivolous thread sometimes without it having to get all deabtey?

My girly dream is getting things from Lush and Benefit as presents, cos I can't really justify buying them for myself! I am also mental about handbags, but again, couldn't justify spending thousands on one!

My dream would be to be able to enjoy chatting to other girls about boys and shoes and chocolate and make-up and all things pink and fluffy without being reminded that the world is a big bad place - I can turn on the news for that!!

Oh and I'd love shoes, loads of shoes, shoes of all colours and descriptions :D!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,503 ✭✭✭✭jellie

for nearly a year ive been drooling over purple ghds. i cant justify the price, paying all that extra for a colour - but its so pretty & comes in a lovely bag with a hairdryer too.

its not quite my "ultimate dream" but its something ive wanted for awhile. i can afford it, i just cant justify spending the money. but if someone wanted to buy it for me i wouldnt say no :D

im sure theres other stuff, just nothing that comes to mind right this minute. i drool over expensive handbags every now & then but nothing too extreme. was eyeing up some lovely guess ones in BT2 recently, but i know plenty of ppl heading to NY coming up to christmas so might get them to get 1 cheaper over there.

Oh god I'd love one of those too but seeing as there is nothing wrong with my ghd I cant justifiy buying a new one, maybe I'll "accidently" stand on it or something!!!

Ultimately girly dream - Channing Tatum!!!!

Blah ... whatever. It's you who thinks it's over priced. As for advertising telling you it will make you like a model, I dunno what ads you are looking at or why you would think that buying a handbag makes you look like a model.

Oh and on the price ... generally the quality of the leather goods dictates the price.

yes i do feel extra special when i have my bag with me but i can promise you it has not changed my personality and ive not gone and gotten an ego. ill still walk through louis vuitton section when i'm in BT. it makes me feel better for a few seconds. being a full time student for the 5th year i don't get to look at nice things often as i don't have the time as i'm mostly buying college books.

if it gets me through the hard times so be it:)

I love this thread but I have to say I was going to write about how I want to be a successful empowered single mum and prove the stereotype wrong but I changed my mind thanks to you girlie's and now I am just going to talk about the simple things I want the things I don't ever get the time to talk about or think about!

I want to be able to afford to go into town (somewhere I don't go very often since leaving the big smoke) and have a ME day ... no kids, no bills just ME...I want to wander round the shops, go for lunch with friends, get my hair and make up done maybe buy a nice pair of boots (the knee high ones that you can took your jeans into but a really good expensive pair in brown leather) and then maybe go for cocktails not having to worry about what time i have a babysitter until....

I do miss life without responsibility! lol lol and alot of channing tatum!;):D;)

Right now, I'd love to book a weekend at a cozy bed and breakfast up in the Vermont side of Lake Champlain during the height of the foliage season. I'd love to go with girlfriends, and we could go out and hike in the woods and go shopping in the downtown of whatever quaint, small town we're closest to. We could to a spa one day and relax. It would just be a girly weekend in the fall, enjoying the outdoors, the scenery, and the quiet.

I want superpowers. Nearly every single night I dream I have superpowers and I wake up disappointed. It's awful having a dream that will never, ever come true.:(

I even took flying trapeze lessons a few years ago but it exacerbated an injury I have in my back, so I can't even make it as a utility belt-less Batman.:(:(:(

If you buy me Benefit, I'll buy you some back! :D

I did originally reeeally want the vintage black Chanel quilt bag, but it got ripped off and knocked off way too much on the high street last season :(

I want a pair of Louboutin's now... As shallow as it sounds, if I got a pair, I think I'd cry with happiness!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,658 ✭✭✭✭The Sweeper

I would like to have perfect eyesight. I'd like my parents to be 10 years younger. I'd people to stop abusing their pets, and their children I'd like people to use their brains more.

Honestly, I would love to have liposuction, a tummy tuck, a boob lift, and a pair of laboutins. A Jimmy choo bag would be nice too.

A pony...my whole damn life I'ne wanted a pony...or a horse...I once got to mind a donkey for a bit which was great, he had been badly beaten and abused but I got him to trust me and eat carrotts from my hand and let me rub his face.

    Seriously...every year wnenever I am asked what I want for Crimbo/my bday I say "a pony, or a puppy, or a puppy-pony"!

Other than that new shoes and new corsets and holidays with my OH!

A shopping trip to New York and to get to go in a Helicopter. I've talked to three people who did just that over the summer... Jealousy lives on :p

A pair of shocking pink louboutins that I saw last season in Brown Thomas and have never quite gotten over... long gone now of course but if someone were to present me with them now (at a fraction of the original price tag, preferably) I think I'd actually pass out from happiness!

Oh come on, that is not fair. Life and let live. If it makes her happy that is what matters. Just because a designer handbag is important to her dose not mean she dosent care about the right of other women.

I'm sure it's not the extent of any of these ladies' dreams.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,883 ✭✭✭shellyboo

Would it really be SO hard for people to just stay out of threads they think are stupid? Really, like?

Perfect fcuking example of girls being horrible to other girls for absolutely no good reason.

No but if that is the extent of your dreams.... wow.

Its like this thread is a bunch of carrie bradshaw wannabees. It's embarrassing.

You want to know my REAL dream then? It's to have my two children who were killed in a car accident magically given back to me. It's to wake up in the morning and see their little smiling faces. It's not going to happen. So I'll stick with the laboutins for now.

Girls can dream about anything without it making them shallow. You know nothing about anyone on here and yet you know enough to call us "Carrie Bradshaw wannabees"

    Seriously. Get a grip.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,085 ✭✭✭Xiney

metrovelvet, they're getting defensive because you're being offensive.

If you continue to cause disruption on this forum you may find yourself taking a bit of a break from it.

A patent leather Mulberry Bayswater, I practically drool thinking about it! In particular a green one Kate moss has, it's amazing.

Or a mini :pac: They're girly right?

When I read dream I didnt expect handbags. I thought it would be about something bigger and brighter.

And yes Whoopsies, I do want to know your real dream. Calm down. Why is everyone so defensive. I thought a thread like this would be more interesting than a list of shoes and handbags.

People are defensive because "carrie bradshaw wannabee" is hardly said as a compliment. You also say that people's girly dreams embarrass you. A list of handbags and shoes it may be.

Why, instead of dissing other peoples dreams, didn't you just post what your dream is?

Of course it's not out of place!

And now you've changed the thread a little so other people won't feel their dreams aren't suited for it!

I hope all of your dreams come true Metrovelvet. And everyone else too :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,883 ✭✭✭shellyboo

The thread title says GIRLY DREAM, metrovelvet. Are you just purposefully ignoring that part? Because it seems like you are, just so that you can look down on everyone in the thread. There's a thread in tLL about ambitions that you may not have seen, but whatever - it's patently obvious that there's more to posters in here than handbags; anyone who posts in here regularly would know that. This thread happens to be about handbags, and girly, silly things; and twice we'd had someone come in and shlt all over that for no good reason.

It's getting seriously tiresome that we have to constantly PROVE that we're more than just silly wimmins. Can we not just have that taken as read? Even when we're talking about handbags?

can someone please remove my last four posts. I didnt realise they would cause such a stink.

Posters have 24 hours to edit/delete their own posts.

Quite possibly might be 48 hours, unsure of that fact.

Personally I feel that the disagreement/confusion was resolved, however if you don't agree and are unable to edit/delete your posts please let either myself or one of the other Mods know.

I'd love a Graham Knuttel original.

Heck, I'd even settle for something by his son.

I can safely say that looking at it everyday would enhance my happiness to the nth degree; I love his work sooooo much!

Wouldn't say no to some designer clobber either of course ;)

At the moment my dream is to own my own house and have the kitchen and bedroom that I want (with a walk-in wardrobe of course). We can settle down and get the dog my OH wants so much and have a place where we don't have to buy the cheapest furniture we can find, where we can make it a home together and have a family etc.

A more short term dream is to own a le creuset big casserole pot. Very sad and domestic I know but I've got my eye on one but just can't justify the expense! I've got my eyes out for second hand ones too.

Ikea do some kitchen wear that looks very like le creusset. I'm not a big Ikea fan, but I do have a couple of their le creusset-a-like pots and pans.

I have a knock off from La Cuisine haha. It's fantastic and it's about 1/3rd of the price of Le Creuset.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 13,252 ✭✭✭✭Madame Razz

You can sometimes pick the Le Creuset stuff up in TK Maxx sometimes at a fairly reduced price, the colours can be a bit 'different' sometimes, but if you don't mind a pastel coloured casserole pot how bad.

On the Audi TT methinks an A5 would be nicer:)

Since this year I'm driving what I always wanted to drive and I fcuking love it. It is very good to realise your motoring dreams:D
