Can you check what IP address your PC is and what IP address your PS3 is?

Only thing that has ever worked for me with the PS3 is the Windows Media Player.

Won't work with the 360 - TVersity does that.
Also tried the PS3 Media Server - but again never got it to work.

Media player works fine though - from memory I think once it was on and upgraded I had to do a search for it to discover my PS3.

    In terms of the PS3
    > fixed IP address via the router
    > opened the ports that I found on the various websites around Nat2 /3 and sharing

Been working now for over a year with little / no issues.

IP address of laptop is 192.168.1.10 and IP address of PS3 is 192.168.1.11

TVersirty is made to work for PS3. I just don't understand why its so feckin' hard to get going!!

Update: I switched the network settings on the PS3 to Wireless lads and forwarded the ports on the Cisco EPC 2425 and surprise surprise the PS3 can now see TVersity!

The only annoying thing is its so slow playing even SD content :-( Ideally I would like to have the PS3 using the wired connection to the router as they are right beside each other.....oh well!!

I tried to connect the laptop to the router via a wired setup with the PS3 also wired in and when I did the PS3 picked up TVersity immediately.

That would lead me to think that the issue is something to do with when the PS3 is hard wired to the router and the laptop is connected through wireless.

    Cheers,

Just an update on this. I got PS3mediserver going once I connected the PS3 wirelessly to my Cisco EPC 2425 router. Its streams all SD content OK but with .MKV files it seems to stutter :-(

When I connect the PS3 to the router via the wired option I can't see PS3mediaserver at all.... anyone know why this would be?

    Cheers,
    M

I've had the same issue with mediaconnect on a mac I just use wireless now I must say though I rarely see any slowdown or struttering but I can only stream compatable files it doesn't transcode on the fly

There has to be some way to get it working when the PS3 is wired to the router!! I'm not giving up yet!!

I had a feeling it could be done! What is the playaback like for .MKV files wcarey1975??

What router are you using? I have the Cisco EPC 2425 from NTL....I think its a combined cable modem and router.

Have you used PS3mediaserver at all?

    Cheers,
    M
