Do you like to be hugged all the time?

I can take or leave it.

But I find it a bit strange when a stranger comes up and cuddles me on introduction.

Do you like to be hugged VERY often? 182 votes

Its just a girl thing to be honest, us manly men prefer to greet each other by greco roman wresting and lathering ourselves in oil. Far less gay than hugging

I usually check my pockets straight after.

Times like this I'd like to be a dude!

But I know girls who hug boys on introduction. I'm thankfully not one of them.

strangers hug you on intro? Is this some weird Cork thing! You must be hawt!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,572 ✭✭✭✭brummytom

I, though it sounds gay, like a hug when I'm feeling low. A good hug (off a mate) cheers me up a bit :o

Hugs off girls are way better, they're much more intense, more of a cuddle :pac:

If someone I didn't know well tried to hug me, I'd have to kill them

I've no problem with people who are into that sort of thing hugging and greeting themselves. It's the people who look at you like you have two heads when you don't go in for a kiss, or whatever, when you see them.

    That pisses me off.

    I'm Irish, not French.

There's a big difference between a good mate and those fcuking insta-hug hippies. As I said, check your pockets. :-/

I see a lot of teenagers these days greeting each other in the street with hugs. It's all barely suppressed sexual frustration by the looks of it.

Girls in my old school used to greet each other by KISSING.

And these were first years, 12 year olds. :(

    Different over here.

All of my female friends are greeted every day with a kiss. Some with a hug.
If I'm ever introduced to girls its often followed by a kiss on the cheek.
As for guys, all get a hand shake.

I like hugs but I don't like those people who think hugging is what you do every time you meet someone new! I don't know you so please don't hug me! It's grand if I'm drunk though, everyone can have a hug! :pac:

I dont mind getting a hug, but to prove that they are worthy of such an experience they will have to suck the back of me bag first.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 772 ✭✭✭X-Calibre

A good hug off a mate you havent seen in a while is great!

You cant go wrong with a random hug from a stranger as well. Example: I was at Electric Picnic and at Brian Wilson some random girl just turned around in the middle of a song and hugged me - really restores your faith in humanity:pac:

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,171 ✭✭✭af_thefragile

    Nope.

I don't like it when random friends come and hug you.
I don't mind it but I don't go around looking for hugs like most people nowdays seem to.
I just prefer saying "goodbye" and leave. Don't need all them hugs and fake emotions.

Guilty, but it was an accident. I was with my friend in town and her friend who I knew only to see was hanging out with us. At the end of day, we were saying our goodbyes and I gave her a hug, so it was kind of like a reflex and I automatically gave her friend a hug. I actually felt a bit embarrassed, but he didn't seem to mind. In all fairness, he wasn't a COMPLETE stranger, I had just spent the day with him, but he wasn't a friend either.

Otherwise, I quite like getting hugs from people. It's better if it's from someone bigger than you, it feels really cuddly. I wouldn't particularly mind if a stranger hugged me, once they were clean and smelled nice.
