It doesn't really seem that way though. I mean, all it seems like to me is a bunch of workshops that I have no interest in attending. Anyway, I think i'm going to go up to Galway on the Saturday to visit my sister.

the middle of the quad gets you pregnant, walking on the crest under the arch makes you fail exams.

Walking on the quad and on the crest makes you fail your exams and your degree, as I've heard. What if you're a male in the middle of the quad? Get pregnant too?

Also heard the story that there's a sniper above the crest too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 606 ✭✭✭captainspeckle

never heard the getting pregnant one, hmm!

I have seen the sniper...... he had a vicious look in his eyes*

    *may not be true.

    Just doing his job.

Gunning down students who walk over his dearly beloved crest.

No matter what the myth, I refuse to walk over the crest or the quad.

    Don't do it freshers!

I concur completely! If twats like Bob Geldof can get an honorary degree in TCD then they deserve a posthumous degree!:cool:

Agreed, my first time in UCC always admired the grounds. As a mature student this time around, I should be spending saturday finding future quiet places for my evening nap. :)

Gonna be hitting this tomorrow instead of heading to Galway. Didn't register for any of the workshops though so i'll just have a wander around the different stalls on campus.

I've decided not to bother with this,Out of the few people i briefly spoke to on orientation none were going and it seems anything going on there will be covered during freshers week,Like clubs and socs?

Not to bothered about the lectures TBH

I discovered today that being 17 and in first year is a load of bollocks!

Even the events organised by the Students Union are for over 18's cos they're in pubs, clubs, etc.

    It's discrimination!!

Why not hold the event somewhere that won't stop you at the door cos you're 17, and if they're that bloody bothered about it, have them check I.D. at the bar when you're buying alcohol. It's so ****e, I can't go out to anything for my entire first year, and my friends won't go either cos they wouldn't leave me at home :mad::(

    +1

I think if there are students in place, there should be a system where if you are under 18 you have a stamp on your hand or somethung. at least then you can still go to the event, albeit marked so you cant buy alcohol.

But, I guess its a good idea in theory and probobly wouldnt work so well.
pretty crap though if you are under 18 :(

Will taking your college I.D not work?I saw posters that said I.D required but i just assumed it was to make sure you're a UCC student and not someone who just tagged along?

I have to say that's a good idea,But as it's the law,Something like that wouldn't be enough and the guards wouldn't allow it.
