I started wearing eyeliner regularly around the age of 12.

(Although I was 8 or 9 when I started on the black nail polish...)

    I'm 17 and I don't. :o I have no interest in ever doing so either,though.

Started practising proper application of it (as opposed to desecrating my mum's collection by shoving it on like American Indian war paint :pac:) at 12. Started actually wearing it to discos etc at 14.

19/20 ish. Still don't really NEED it, but I like it.

Well make-up is to accentuate your features, not just to cover up wrinkles/give a lift to a fading looks.

A girl who has enough confidence to not wear make up gets my respect always

    21 ish.

I still don't wear make up everyday. Only if I'm going out or am on holiday.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 8,390 ✭✭✭The Big Red Button

I was fifteen when I started wearing it occasionally. I hadn't any real interest in it, but all of my friends did, so on one of my friend's advice I bought Maxfactor Panstick (to use as concealer), Rimmel eyeliner, and Maybelline mascara.

By the time I was seventeen I was hooked good and proper! I remember me and all my friends used to all buy L'Oreal Cashmere Perfect foundation in the same shade, despite our very different skin tones. Thankfully my expertise in choosing and applying make-up has improved a bit since then!

I love my make-up, and wear it everyday. I'm not dependant on it though, like I'd have no problem leaving the house with it to go into town or something. I would always wear it for work though, as I think natural-looking make-up applied properly can make you look a lot more polished and professional looking.

Have you had several "makeovers"? :o My friends always tried to get me to wear it. At the gaeltacht last year, before every night out, they'd do mine for me. For ages whenever I stayed in a friend's house, the make up would be out and on in a matter of minutes. I think now they're finally starting to realise that if I say I don't want to wear it,I actually mean it :p

Started at 12, stopped at 17.

Started at about 15/16, wore it everyday to school. Don't know what has changed but now I would only sometimes wear it to work if I get up in time and barely ever wear it to college. Wouldn't go for a proper night out without it though!

13- started wearing those Rimmel stick concealers to cover my godawful acne- which it didn't!
14/15- started wearing mascara/eyeshadow/gloss. I experimented with basic foundations and failed miserably, the stuff I could afford at the time just didn't come in my skin colour!
16 I started on the black eyeliner. Stuck with the basics (though I got hooked on the expensive designer stuff- Benefit, Urban Decay when I got a job in the same shopping centre as a Debenhams)
I started wearing foundation and powder when I turned 21- got a voucher for BT and spent it all in MAC!

First time I ever wore make up was at my debs when I was 17. I started regularly wearing it when I was 18/19. I'm 20 now. All I really wear is foundation/powder/blusher.

I was around 17 when I first started wearing makeup, mainly Rimmel and Boots makeup. I had no idea how to apply anything.
My first year pics from college is like looking at a walking makeup disaster-orange fake tan, blue eyeshadow and neon pink cheeks,so embarrassing!!

I've only started wearing makeup every day this year. I'm 23. Prior to that, I'd usually wear a little bit on a night out, so probably started that when I was 18.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,713 ✭✭✭✭Novella

I bought my first foundation when I was seventeen, after I'd had my make up done for my debs and thought it was pretty nice! I bought Benefit's Non Fiction and I still have the bottle at home! :)

I'm twenty now and I have to say, I do love make up but just can't be bothered putting it on everyday!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,556 ✭✭✭MizzLolly

I started wearing eye make up around 14/15. I never use foundation or powder or anything. Just eyeliner and eyeshadow!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,072 ✭✭✭SeekUp

I used to sneak mascara to school when I was 11. But remember wearing a bit openly when I was 12/13.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 30 cGirl

I started dabbing a bit of concealer on when I was about 16, I'm 17 now and I don't wear a full face of make-up, only an extremely thin layer of foundation if I feel I need a little boost. Otherwise, I just don't bother. I wear it for debs, or if I'm going out I might put a little bit more on.

20/21 - wore lipstick and the odd time eyeshaddow, now I would include mascara the odd time but have not worn any in well over a month.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,488 ✭✭✭pikachucheeks

I think I was about fourteen.
I didn't wear it in first year of school and then, all the other girls started wearing it... so I joined in!

Of course, it took a while for me to get the application right! We all went for the same orange face and bright eyeshadow look! :o

I remember we were all in the canteen one day, sitting down, having lunch. The matron walked past and said, under her breath, "The blue eyeshadow brigade "

I got really into make-up application when I was sixteen. Started using loads of Benefit and Mac. Haven't looked back since and I'm always doing my friends' make-up for a portfolio I have.

I love trying out different products and looks! Some people like sports, I like playing with make-up!

i tought a few girls how to kayak who were between the age of 8-16. many of the 8, 9 and 10 year olds were wearing thick makeup. a few even had their eyebrows plucked.

obviously, i had to tip them over and make them swim back to shore, ruining their makeup.

in my defence, they knew they were going to go out on a river and paid good money to get wet:)

About 15. I began wearing a bit of eye liner, I was going through the looking like an extra from a Good Charlotte video phase at that point. About a year on I started going a bit mad with very bright eye shadows. Loved eye shadow, had great fun applying it and never used just one colour when I'm putting it on.

Never used to wear foundation or all the jazz. Only recently started wearing a bit of concealer. I hardly wear any make up now, though I still have a bit of fun with the ol' eye shadows from time to time. :)

    15. God bless Constance Carroll powder! then moved onto Max Factor panstick.. 5 of us wore same colour despite skin tones differing vastly. God we were so innocent!

I started at 12/13 and wear it nearly every day. I look fine without it, I just love putting it on, the colours etc.

22, eyeliner(jean paul gaultier for men), oh boy...
stopped that **** when I got real bulky and realised I looked scary lol
only did it a few times, not sure what I was thinking

I was about 12 when I started using mascara, but only because I have really fair eyelashes and look quite like an alien without it.

Started with foundation and such when I was about 15/16. I wear foundation, powder, mascara and a bit of liquid eyeliner everyday, but mainly because i like putting it all on. Its thereputic!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 158 ✭✭miaowsky

around 17...and judging by the photos I was pretty heavy handed with black eyeliner! Thankfully I've had a few lessons since and don't look I'm ready to join a circus :)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 17 saywhatyouwish

I was 18, just when I started university but even now I only wear porcelain foundation which just takes the redness from my skin rather than really changing the colour of my face. I wear a little eyeshadow with clear mascara and lip gloss everyday... I like the natural look :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 337 ✭✭pearliefan

I started when I was 13... then stopped soon after but still wore eye make-up regularly.
I rarely wear it now (I'm 17) unless I'm feeling bleh or am going out. I don't need it really.... but I like to wear mascara because it does accentuate my eyes. but I always forget to put it on :pac:

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 842 ✭✭✭Weidii

I started I'd say after my debs, though that's the only time I've worn foundation. My makeup normally consists of me dying my eyelashes so I won't have to bother putting anything on, but when that fades I'll stick on some mascara if there's someone I can nick some from! (Still to this day have never purchased my own makeup, I would if there was a brand I could get a hold of that was cruelty free though)

I was the grand age of 14, im the oldest girl of 3 and all my friends had older sisters to help them apply the "varnish" so they started before me:D, which i do to my sis's now.

Probably around 14-15. I enjoyed the colors and application of it. Probably went a little overboard, but those are the learning years, so that's alright.

Same as that at 14/15 only ever wore it going to the discos! Never ever during the day. So only at 22/23 I had to start wearing it to work but this only consisted on Clinique Tinted Moisturiser, Concealer and Mascara.

I live with a make-up addict and she simply refuses to let me leave the house when were going out without eyeliner. Well damn her anyway its grown on me and iv kinda started to like it. However when im not working or going out i dont wear any makeup, except the odd day if im feeling up to it/bored/meeting someone/going somewhere!
