M17/M18 - Gort to Tuam [open to traffic]

Is the road really that quiet that you can walk across to the central barrier and take pictures?
or are you using a drone....

edit: maybe the date on the second photo is wrong.

They are drone shots I don't fancy getting knocked down by a 40 foot track sorry for putting down the wrong date

Where is good to stop after you get off the motorway north of Tuam? We will need a break after coming from Cork!
It should be a Saturday around lunch time so hopefully everywhere will be open.

Yes that footbridge is on the tuam side the nearest village is turloughmore, wear the footbridge is that's the old n63

A services somewhere just north of the northern end of the Tuam bypass would be handy. It's the halfway point between Cork and Letterkenny. 
When (if!) the M20 between Cork and Limerick is completed, it'll also be the point on the route from Cork to Letterkenny where the roads change from mostly motorway/dual-carriageway to mostly single-carriageway.

There's a couple of large service stations in Ballindine. One a Texaco Spar with a Supermacs and the other a Maxol Mace.

Back on the M18 and I see the unofficial exit sign is still there. Surely one of those brown alternative route signs would alleviate the need for that sign.

Speaking of signs, heading south shortly after the Bat bridge there is this concrete stump which looks like the base for a sign that never got erected?

There also one on the m17 at cloondarone 2.5kms south of tuam on the right hand side of pic

Looking at the control box next to the base, it appears to be there for a future VMS, maybe that's next years budget.

The m17/m18 was originally going to open today
