    Howdy all,

The other day myself and my brother dug out the SNES from the attic after I rememebred it was up there. Sadly the games are all missing, probably given away years ago! So I'll have to go on the hunt for new ones, I've a list I want to get:

    Mario All Stars
    Donkey Kong Country
    Mario Kart
    Street Fighter II
    Super Mario World
    (And Maybe) Zelda

Any other suggestions for some classic Snes games!?

Roysh, where to start?! Here's three games you might want to look into:

Batman Returns - Beat 'em up
Super Aleste - Shoot 'em up
Zombies Ate My Neighbours - hard to quanitfy, excellent game nonetheless, rescue hapless neighbours from B-movie horrors!

    Super Metroid

The single best reason for owning a SNES imo

    THIS.

    Donkey Kong Country 2
    Yoshi's Island
    Joe & Mac
    Chrono Trigger
    EarthBound
    Secret of Mana
    Secret of Evermore
    Illusion of Time/Gaia
    Terranigma
    Breath of Fire I/II
    Earthworm Jim 1/2

And I remember True Lies and Aladdin being fun to play although I doubt they hold up. :pac:

    Oh and Total Carnage

Actually Aladdin holds up really well.

Just like to add without going into japanese imports:

    Lufia 2
    Final Fantasy 6/3
    Cybernator
    Contra 3
    Magical Quest starring Mickey Mouse
    Metal Warriors

ah you'd finish Aladdin in a day.

    International Superstar Soccer
    Rock N Roll Racing
    Earthworm Jim
Starfox (although it wasn't called that in Ireland - What was it?)
    F-Zero
Super Mario World (better than all stars)
    Yoshi's Island
Super Mariokart IMO is still the best game ever made. Battle mode track 4. Matches used to go for nearly an hour. I was clinical with green shell or banana
    Mortal Kombat
    Bomberman

Donkey Kong Country really has not held up
(honestly I never rated it, always thought that it had very a watery look to it)

After a recent horrific experience with Super Metroid, I feel compelled to warn you...remember to change the batteries in any carts you're going to play with a save feature (Especially any RPGs) . Even if there's some life left in them.

Nothing worse than being all fired up to get stuck back into a game only to find all your saves have vanished.

    Some one else agrees!

    Smash tennis
    Killer Instinct

Jesus, looking through the list so far there were some fantastic games on that machine, at a time when it seemed everyone (at least where I grew up) had a Megadrive. Why?!??

Because during the 8-bit era Sega treated Europe with respect unlike nintendo so made a bigger impact. Come the 16-bit era they came out with a fantastic console and sold like hot cakes while the snes took it's sweet time coming to europe.

Not to mention Megadrives were cheaper.

When I got mine for Christmas 92, it cost £129 as far as I can remember. The Super Nintendo was £150

There's a few good ideas in there so far!

The most disturbing thing I've found is that the batteries on the SNES games will expire resulting in a loss of save games? That could get annoying & complicated to fix, even with the guides I've found online.

    It's easy enough actually.

Open the cart. (You'll need a special screw bit..can make one yourself though)

take the old battery out. (did this before with a knife, dont necessarily need to desolder it..depends how much solder is holding it in place)

Put a new battery in. (I did this with masking tape before on a Zelda cart a few years ago..checked yesterday and it still works. So it seems like an option other than soldering a new one in if you're not sure about how to do that. Easy to change in future too :))

    Ah, the memories!
Rock N Roll racing was great,
    Super Tennis
    Mario Kart
    Sensible Soccer
    Jurassic Park
    Desert Strike

Never like platform games. Sensible Soccer was never as good as the Amiga Version (they still have never matched that, they always try to make it 3d or something) but tme memories of being ablt to turn on the console and have a game started in 5 seconds!

I'm biased toward it but DKC2 holds up much better to age since it has a quicker pace, and is more varied. Even if K Rool's Keep is a nightmarish hell.

    street fighter 2
