You must have something wrong. I have been using it for 3 years & it's the best by a mile. I never get unknown or unused words

For normal typing it's definitely a good keyboard. I prefer swiping though and my personal experience is that it's not up to much in that department.

Recently discovered CLONEit and found it to be awesome when swapping between phones.

Anyone know any third party Facebook Messenger apps now that they won't allow access to them through the browser?

    http://techin.oureverydaylife.com/can-reply-message-facebook-using-text-message-3456.html

Give this a shot ! No more messenger app and it uses texts as a reply so if you have unlimited texts seems like a great way to get rid of messenger

    Lads I'm thick out

Is there any way to change the phone messages browser part to a different colour or theme than the rest of the apps on your homescreen

If it runs Cyanogen you'll get themes in the play store.

From the reviews I've read, the other included launcher (not the one that looks like stock Android) has themes available. Might be a dark one there.

It really does sound like a very good phone, near too good to be true but I think I'll pull the trigger on it. 6000mAh sounds unreal, and it's not even crazy thick to fit it in.
    Yes I recommend.

Any recommendations for battery managers? Something's running the crap out of my battery and I want something to monitor the usage for 3-4 days and tell me what the culprit is.

Greenify just shuts everything into hibernation now, and that's not what I want

A lot of people swear by Gsam, and it'll give you a slight bit more info than the stock settings, but for your needs it is pretty much useless without root. They all are if you don't have it.

Not just root, I'd say you'd need to mod deeper than that , I use the Xposed kernel and then install Amplify to control and limit wakelocks.

I have root so no issues there.

Never actually managed to get Xposed working on ART but I'll give it a whirl, thanks lads

Not really an app, but imo an absolute must-have if you are using boards touch site on Chrome. It helps prevent the page jumping when those annoying ads are loading offscreen and thus helps prevent accidental clicks.

Enable this flag in chrome browser: chrome://flags/#enable-scroll-anchoring and restart the browser.

This is still in beta, so it could get removed in a later release but hopefully it becomes a standard feature.

I used to use Nova launcher back in the days before Google Now launcher was a thing. Basically it was bundled with every ROM, including Trebuchet launcher and when I was asked I which one I wanted to use, Nova looked easier to use :)

Anyway I've been having thoughts on customising my laucher recently with custom icons and such and realised that Google launcher doesn't support this (without a 3rd party configuration).

So opening the play store, I realised that the premium version of Nova is 50 cent at the moment, instead of it's 5 euro normal tag. I have no idea what you get for premium, but surely it must be worth 50 cent of my 3 credit to the dev's at this stage for all the times I've used it in the past :D

    Textgrabbericon.gif

    TextGrabber + Translator ABBYY

    €2.19

    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.abbyy.mobile.textgrabber.full&hl=en

    ---

Eerily good at what it does. Text OCR. (optical character recognition, using a camera or photo file)

Nice price on the Irish Play store, for the moment.

Depending on your phone's camera, your user experience could be different from mine..

I'm using 2-factor on my Google account and I wanted to give Google Authenticator or Authy a try as I believe it will offer the same on other accounts. Neither app give any explanation whatsoever of what they actually do or how they work though and keep trying to get me to scan a QR code (where the code is, I have no idea). Anyone any experience of either and can explain how I use one to 2 factor something like Facebook, Twitter, PayPal, etc?

Facebook and Twitter have their own 2 factor do not work with authenticator. The site needs to support it.

You'd be better off get a password manager like Lastpass and enable two factor on sites that support it. I use Lastpass with authenticator, but I also have some others in authenticator like Dropbox

LastPass has never worked properly for me, I'm not sure if it's a conflict in my device or not, but I've tried numerous times. The more I think about it though, I feel 2-factor is the way to go for me as I just don't like the idea of all my passwords on a server somewhere, when I can protect myself by getting a text instead. No matter how much they encrypt, there will always be someone who is capable of hacking that. I can set it up on Twitter and Facebook as you mentioned and that just leaves me with Dropbox and Outlook then to tend to.

What's the authenticator you mentioned, the Google one? Or does LastPass have an authenticator of its own?

Lastpass supports Google authenticator. Dropbox also supports Google authenticator. I'm not sure if you saw my last post after I edited it, I use a combination of Lastpass and Google authenticator and also enable two step for any site that provides their own two step.
