Is CM browser playing up for anyone else today?

It has been for me, expired security cert kept coming up when I tried to access boards. Got fed up so uninstalled it. Using boat browser mini now, seems fine so far and hopefully won't hog as much battery as CM.

Yeah, acting up for me too.

Content on boards is being cached, so some links are showing yesterday's content (with no new content since then, even though there are new posts). I can clear user data and that works, but it breaks again from then on.

If I load in Chrome, this site is fine.

Is there any equivalent of Wake Lock Detector that works on non rooted devices?
Wakelock detector only works on kitkat if you have root.

I think there was an update a few days ago that seems to have caused it!

i've had that times on boat browser as well, it's boards' problem, not the browsers. usually sorted quickly

Any bad stuff I've read about needs User input to infect the device, ie, ya have to click OK when it asks you to.

So if you didn't click on something to get asked something like that then don't click and you'll be grand.

plus you'll only get that on dodgy sites.

that's what i've seen too, it's installed as an apk though it never mentions dodgy sites - phishing, redirects, etc. - that'd most likely get flagged with web protection. a bit harder too see URLs too on mobiles.

In fact I would think Syncme Wireless is in my top 5 useful apps. It has a wake on lan feature too but I use PC Auto Water to wake up my NAS automatically when our phones join the home Wifi.
I use the following methods to backup photos

    1. Take a photo on the phone
    2. It backs up to my personal Gmail (Google+) account from the phone which I find great as it will do these Auto Awesome stories/movies etc (I have 65Gb of free storage with Google but prices for 100GB are about €25 per year which is great and is more than enough for photos at the moment for me.)
    3. I also have SyncMe Wireless set up on the phone and it syncs any new photos to a NAS at home when I connect to the network with my phone
SyncMeWireless is doing the biz for me all right when it comes to getting photos off the phone and onto the laptop.

I was hoping that it might keep my music library in synch. In particular, I was hoping that I could delete tracks on side and have this deletion reflected on the other device, but it doesn't seem to do it for me. Am I missing something?

A version of xbmc is now available from Play. It has adds ons etc already configured. It's called TVMC http://www.tvaddons.ag/tvmc-android/

Can this be used as a base for adding IPTV and iStream etc?

    Best of both worlds?

Does anyone know any FREE webtext apps I can use with Meteor please? I was previously using TextDroid. Unfortunately it no longer works as meteor changed their login method from phone number+pin to email address+password. The app has not been updated, so I can't logon to it anymore :( I tried Cabbage too but have the same problem.

Edit: Doh. I just noticed that you already tried it. :o

Incorporate your phone into your halloween costume with an app that adds impressive animated effects to it .
Some of these are actually pretty cool. You're suppsed to buy the masks and costumes and tshirts etc but with a bit of creativity you could adapt something you have already.

Yeah, I'm amazed nobody has updated the cabbage app to reflect the new Meteor logon rules :(

    This one works very well for me on Tesco Mobile;

    SwiftSMS

Not sure if it works with Meteor but worth a shot! :)

Just set up this backup app last week. Brilliant.
    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.koushikdutta.backup

You need to pay a couple of quid to get all of the features.
    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.koushikdutta.backup.license

I format or change android devices reasonably frequently. Most apps have no configs or data to modify so they're easy to reinstall. Most important data copies to Google or Dropbox automatically so that's easy.

What isn't so easy are apps that have configs to modify. E.g. I have a mail client with multiple email addresses and a couple of other apps I enter data on that doesn't sync automatically.

Normally when I format my device those kind of apps get forgotten about and it's a rigmarole to get the data back to the phone.

Helium allows you to select certain apps and copy their data up to Dropbox. Then when you install Helium on your new device you just install the apps, select your Dropbox account and then restore the configs or data. I've found it to work brilliant.

It's probably not necessary for most users but handy if you need it.
For some reason you need to run an app on a PC and then connect your phone to enable the app. That's a bit of a niggle but it only takes a minute.
    No root is required.

I want to root my phone (OnePlus One) but that will mean losing all the apps and data etc. Would this app allow me to backup all my apps and app settings etc and then restore them after rooting?

    Dunno. I suppose so.
I backed up my settings on Sunday and when I got a new phone (different make and model) just restored the settings to the new one. I presume that while the directory structure stays the same it'll work. I don't think routing will change that.

Androidify just got a nice big update to version 2.0. Worth it for a bit of fun. Also, sneaky timing considering the apparent 5.0 update today.

Anyone else have problems with google play taking ages to update apps today (15 Oct) or is it just my midband connection?

Just hit update on mine and it flew through them. There was only 3 apps needed updating though, may have been very small files I didn't check.

Swiftkey is lagging a lot for me, very frustrating. What other options are out there for android keyboards?

    Round & Workout Timer (+)

I need little audio nudges to keep me going in this colder weather..

This app is great for that. The rounds can have rest times, any one round at any time can be irregular, same for rest periods, or just set them to zero, as I have for my routine below.

A stackable, irregular timer with alerts is useful for just about anything, not just exercise. Impossible to get a watch that can do this, sadly.

For the Pedants, I am aware that I misspelled Elliptical. Have a nice day!

I switched from Swiftkey to the Google Keyboard a few months ago, wouldn't go back now.

TouchPal is also fast if you type a lot of emoticons

Firetube, it's YouTube as a music player. Handy for listening to YouTube music while browsing boards!
