But for NET radio you cant go far wrong with "TuneIn Radio".

This - get yourself a decent data bundle and use TuneIn Radio, it is excellent.

which is great and radio, which is the worst!

Try a different set of headphones, your aerial is your headphones, so generally if there is any static, its caused by that.

Tbh I don't even bother with the radio, its no good on any phone, home cinema system I ever tried, works fine for a second, but as you have a weak aerial the signal strength is never great.

Its a grand phone otherwise, bit slow by my standards but ok

Hi all, looking for help with an app.
I got a Sony Xperia J a few months back and only started using it as a MP3 player, which is great and radio, which is the worst!

The radio app which is just like any other radio, scans for irish channels, but every channel just wont stay clear, static coming in and out all the time.
I have a look on the App store for a new radio tunner, and all of them seem to be 'World Wide' radio apps, this is not what I am looking for, I just want a good radio tunner for newstalk phantom RTE etc, not the apps.

Had a Samsung Galaxy Ace and radio app was brilliant, very clear, but the sony one is horrendous

Can anyone recommend me a good radio app or widget on here please?

Also, I havent seen anyone mention Xperia J on boards, what do people think of it so far as a budget phone?

    Thanks for any advice!!!

Theres a great app called Spirit FM on play that gives you a radio app that is FM "over the air" radio rather than a 3g or wifi based app. It costs around €4 but over time it would save you a fortune on 3g if you listen to the radio a lot. I'm finding it great so far. It just gives you Irish stations but it seems like that's all you're looking for.
Remember if you buy something and it doesn't work you can cancel the purchase and have your money returned if you do so within 15mins.

Great security app with loads of free features:

    Theft Spy

I've tried a few paid ones but find this one much better and most of the features you need in an app are free!!

If you have XBMC connected to your telly (raspberry pi for example). You can replicate much of the same functionality as Apple's airplay with
    Bubble UPnP.
The full version costs €3 but it's totally worth it.

I have a Google TV box set up, I have BubbleUPNP on it and on my phone and am happily watching video stored on my phone on my telly without moving from my couch. Great!

I use my phone as my main Torrent machine now and it is all working great.

I did some investigating about this and found this guide for setting up a DNLA client calledd Serviio and it seems to work brilliantly on the PS3.

    http://reviews.cnet.co.uk/desktops/how-to-stream-video-or-music-to-a-tv-xbox-or-ps3-using-dlna-50006196/

Unlike PS3 media server and tversity it seems to play mkv and h.264 files with no problems. And there is an app called Serviigo to play the same content on your phone through MX Player.

Probably only a must have if you have a Note.

    Papyrus
    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.steadfastinnovation.android.projectpapyrus&hl=en

Now you can replace your €1 notepad with a €300 tablet :D
Seriously though, I've been using it for a few days and can't live without it now.
It has an add on (not free) for backing up your notes as PDFs to Dropbox.

what are you looking to put on the external storage, the app, songs, both?

i think you need to be rooted & get an app that'll move the app onto the SD card

I've used the pen up to the point where I discovered that writing on the qwerty is actually faster than trying to write. Especially if you're using swipe.

Does anyone know if there's an app or some other way to get iPhone earphones to work with Android (galaxy nexus) in the sense of turning up and down volume. I can stop and play tracks that's about it

    Give this a shot:
    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=se.jays.headsetcontrol&hl=en
Or if that fails the free version of this
    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kober.headset

Anyone ever play DEFCON? That would make the leap to Android very well I think.

Get Kii keyboard. It's free and is just as good and is more customizable.

    Swiftkey.

    Far superior (imo) to swype.

+1 for Swiftkey, its just a nice customizable keyboard starting out but after a month or so it seems to be reading your mind and finishing sentences for you, great touches like arrow keys aswell, couldnt use anything else now.

Swiftkey is a great keyboard, no doubt. But it's just not as good at Swyping as Swype is!

It's almost impossible. So annoying. Something that Swiftkey need to iron out, fast. In fairness, Swiftkey has only just introduced swiping as a feature.
