    that's what i thought but the instructor guy that is assigned to a certain experiment said something about using natural logs etc... what does he mean?

    Ix = Io.e^-μ.x

    then at the bottom of the manual it says:

    (Note: Using natural logirithms; ln (Ix) = ln (Io) - μ.x)

    what am i supposed to do? apologies if this is basic maths or what not, as you can see i'm incapable of processing this ****.

    This equation isn't linear so you won't get a straight line when you plot it. However, if you change it to ln(Ix) = ln(Io) - ux, this is just an equation for a line. Basically, plot the thickness on the x axis and the natural log of the count rate on the y axis. The slope of the graph is what you need.

    What did all the 2nd years think of the mod fair yesterday? Everyone know what they want to do now?

    Mod Fair was alright. Got a bit more information on the courses I'm interested in. Undedcided between Micro and Genetics at the moment. Chemistry and Biochem with Immunology are up there too.

    Supposedly it's "short enough" from what I've gathered, no idea on specific times.

    Same here. Cant say I did brilliantly, but it was much better than expected.

    What do we all think of the exam timetable!? I was expecting it to be much more cramped, but it doesnt seem too bad. Bio and chem seem a bit cramped but finish early!

    Just pre and post practical questions as far as I know, just like the old days.

    Damn. Different demostrators must be asking for different things then. I definitly recall ours asking for a report on the day's experiment + the results sheet/questions.

    For all the SF Science students. How long are each essay in the Junior Freshman Biology exams meant to be? Please don't say ''as long as a piece of string''.

    Chris said 3-4 pages not including diagrams but alas this is subjective. Just be sure deal with the topic sufficiently.
