It really doesn't matter if they're any better or not. The current govt. needs to be taught a lesson. They played a big part in fukin this country up and they have to realise that comes with a punishment.
If the opposition do no better change them the next time and so on until we train the politicians into understanding if they want to get elected more than once they better do a good job.
This bollix of will anyone do any better is crap because we can't afford to allow FF and the Greens to continue to run the country into the ground out of fear that no one will do any better.
Atleast with a change we have a chance of doing better. Anyone thinking of voting for FF or the Greens in the next election I offer you some words from a Mr. Einstein,
"Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results."

Charlie McCreevy: "When I have it, I spend it."
    General Public: YAY!

As long as politicians continue to be populist we're screwed, and as far as I can see politicians in every party are populists who refuse to stand up and do the unpopular (yet sensible) thing. That's the problem with haivng elected representatives. The alternative, of course, is much worse though.

The real answer is that the general public are a bunch of gob****es for electing these morons repeatedly and then as the country is plunging down the sewer resort to grumbling about it instead of burning the rats from their cozy nests.

Bashing the government has become a bigger meme than ever before.

Many reasons are valid. Many are absolute bollocks.

My question is, do you honestly think that any of the other political parties would be any different? Or is it soley the government TD's that are the crooks and the "bastards"

The longer a party are in power, the more they are inclined to rest on their laurels. Time spent in power also correlates with corruption. Look at labour in the UK.
They started off progressive, energetic and left of center. Twelve years later, they're incompetent, they're eroding civil liberties, and they're mooching off their expenses allowance.

Unless a political party is given a kick up the arse every once in a while, they'll just grow fat. As Fianna Fail have done.

Ireland just has a really lousy party system in that they haven't figured out that policies, and the invention of new and different ones, are the corner-stone of most governments. I was well suprised when Enda Kenny actually came out with a policy on Health-care earlier in the year. Most of the time in the Dáil is spent taking pot-shots at Brian Cowen, instead of showing why Enda Kenny and Fine Gael would form a better government.

Next election people, spoil your votes like never before!

    why waste the paper?

Why dont you run for election?

People die for the right to vote. Its the single biggest privilege for any citizen living in a democracy, disrespecting it by soiling it with some gobsh1te markings is pointless and serves no purpose.

If you dont like the politicians running, stand for election yourself. Its the beauty of democracy.

Recommend thread title change - "All Politicians are bastards"

    Far more accurate and all-encompassing.

Ah why bother, you'll only get elected if you have the family name. Look at those embarassments to humanity in kerry with their thick accents and stupid fcuking hats.

Look at the money laundering tax evader in Castlebar and they keep getting elected. Could I seriously ask anyone on this site who has voted for any of the above to fcuk off to Iran in a swimsuit armed with a bottle of bucky and a porn mag - you embarass me.

Spoiling your vote is a perfectly valid way of expressing your disatisfaction with the government, that's why it's a part of the voting system. It's not sitting on your arse, not going to the polling booth and then complaining, spoiling your vote is part of the political process, as it forces political parties to broaden their range of appeal in order to win more votes. The ' Why don't you run for election yourself ' attitude is such a high concentration of undiluted cobblers. I don't run for election because I don't want to. I have a choice to do what I like, that's the beauty of deomcracy.

Sod the government..this is all our own fault for putting up with it.
In albania a similar thing happened with pyramid schemes collapsing and bankrupting the country..what happened? The people put the country to the torch.
This is what we shoul do before it gets any worse..burn down leinster house, shoot the property developers and wipe out the estate-loads of professional dole scrounging criminals that are bleeding the country white.
What we really need is a civil war to sort us out.
