I spend about 100 a year on clothes at xmas every year, 3 pairs of jeans in dunnes or pennys a few tshirts and a jumper, thats it. In fact the pair of jeans im wearing now i have for the last 3 years and they still great.

I spend far too much money on clothes (and eating out) but I like to think I shop fairly sensibly.. by that I mean that I've stopped buying stuff that I'll never wear which will hang in my wardrobe for a year with the tags still on them before being donated to St. Vincent de Paul... used to waste so much money by doing that! Still have far too many clothes though.. my wardrobe and drawers are bursting to the gills and my floor is just a sea of clothes and handbags...don't get me started on handbags!!

I can't think of a good reason not to have a suit. Good suits are awesome. Comfortable, you can use them for loads of social things blah blah, and everybody looks awesome in a suit

Pretty much what I was thinking when I had the questionable moment. :p And to politely correct you, everybody looks awesome in a *well tailored* suit. ;)

I'm broke, so I don't have the money to spend on buying a lot of clothes! I buy most of my stuff in Penneys.

I'm still in full time education so, em, yeah my parents make with the moolah for new threads

What am I saying? Enough with these threads on AH, take it to F&A!

comfort/fit/style/quality, if you ever get around to buying a decent pair you'll realise what you've been missing out on.
But I like the style/fit/comfort/quality of the ones I have, otherwise I wouldn't have bought them, still no need to spend €100 on a pair, the price tag doesn't determine any of these qualities.

Before i was let go(spark) i used to go in to town and spend about 100-150 most weeks on clothes and runners but alas apparently bubbles burst:(
+1 (teleporter driver) but still have a roof over the kids heads so wont moan.

if im working before christmas i may buy 300 euro to 500 euro of clothes this prob means nice jumper jeans shirt, a hoody maybe runners . Rest of the year one or two small bits like t shirts and shorts if im goin on hols.
I tend to save an amount and go shopping with that for good jeans etc. but wood buy hoodys and stuff online as the fit isnt as important

I'd buy a pair of jeans every 5 or so months. Tshirts a bit more often. Im a lazy shíte though so once I've found a size that fits I'll shop online.

you must not be very aware of those qualities if whatever you're paying 10-20yoyo for satisfies you. more expensive jeans are made out of better material, have better cuts, etc. go get yourself a pair of ralph lauren or diesel or something similar and i can pretty much guarantee that you wont go back to buying cheap jeans again.

Yeh spend more than I should on clothes, it's my biggest indulgence but I save on other things.

i spend €200 a week and save the rest

means ive got thousands of quid whenever i want to treat myself properly, rather than spunking it all on crap. also means the recession hasnt affected me in the slightest, coz im not an idiot

money spent on clothes is money that could have been spent on my car.

    by which i mean...wasted.

I've bought very little up until last month when I spent about €260 on clothes for a new job - trousers, shirts etc.

Before that in the immediate two years I think I bought a couple of pairs of boxers and two polo shirts totalling <€50. Havent grown much and I'm a cheap student, though :P

I hate shopping & usually do 1 big shop every year in the sales to get it out of the way!

If your willing to spend a little extra time searching you get some great bargains in TK MAXX.

I Recently bought Ralph Lauren shirts there for €20 each which had a normal RRP of €112.50 :). Cant go wrong with that ;)

I'd buy maybe one or two new pieces of clothing a month. Pretty much everything I buy is on sale and less than €20 (got a pair of Topman jeans for €8 there recently, they'll do for messing about in). Only things I would spend more on are jackets or jeans which I'd wear daily for most of the year, even then I have only gone above €50 once or twice.

That said if I wasn't a student I could see myself spending way more.

Levi are the best for inexpensive jeans. Good construction, huge variety of great cuts, lots of different washes, long lasting.

Generally jeans in Irish stores are waaay overpriced, even more so than other clothes. Best bet is to try on in the shop then go buy online. You'll get them for usually around half the price. Usually Levi go for around $50 iirc.

Go over $100 and you're looking at APC, Nudies, all that fashionista stuff.

    I disagree.
I tried the expensive stuff, and it was not comfortable for me.
Went back to jeans that fit comfortably, and don't cost a fortune.
Labels mean nothing to me - I don't care who made the shirt or jeans, I just want them to look good, be comfortable and affordable.

it's got nothing to do with wearing labels.

I wear two sets of clothing until I grow out of them or they really are completely destroyed. One of those sets is for when the other set is being washed. I think I've been wearing the current pair for nearly two years now.

I don't know what's supposed to look good, I think people may have made up this 'style' business just to get rich.

Does that not result in a lot of washing?

If I was going to push the boat out in terms of price in search of extra comfort and fit, I'd have to try them on, so I was more thinking of shops than online.

No, I wear the same clothes over a long enough period that's probably unhealthy but too convenient for me to stop.

I'm a girl. I buy no more than is necessary. I'd rather spend my spare money on something fun, like a trip away.

About 3 times a year I buy a complete set of clothes (T-Shirt, Shirt, Jeans, Shoes) online from the likes of Burtons. Then maybe once a month I will buy a few cheap T-Shirts in Penneys.

Dont buy anything for xmas but instead will buy a fair few things in the sales.

I tend to go away 3 or 4 times a year to the UK for a weekend and always buy some clothes there also. I was in Brighton at the weekend and you can get some great quirky stuff there that you wouldnt see anywhere else.

Like what? Except weddings etc. I've never wore a suit out socialising.

Good for formal occasions but that's about it imo.

I spend very little on clothes. Besides cheap tshirts I generally only buy new stuff to replace old stuff that is worn out. I'm over and back to the US quite a bit lately - Wrangler jeans for $15-$20 in Wal-Mart ftw. Old Navy are great for cheap-but-good stuff too.

Also, my suit only sees daylight for interviews and funerals. I don't think it has been removed from its bag in about 2 years now.
