    That's the standard desktop except for the wallpaper which is mine. The lads in the Unix forum have you on the right path for the partitioning. Linux Mint also comes with a user guide http://ftp.heanet.ie/pub/linuxmint.com/stable/7/user-guide/english.pdf (2MB)

    It's the main edition of Linux Mint you should download not the universal one.
