The doctor would only give you a prescription but you then have to find a pharmacy to dispense it bearing in mind that the majority of them went on strike today.

And the later you get it, the less effective it is, within the 72hrs timeframe.

As far as I know Its available OTC in NI, the sooner you get it the more effective it is, unless you wanna be pushing a buggy get your orse in gear. And next time BE MORE CAREFUL!!!!!!!

Just go to your Out-of-hours doctor, then late night pharmacy. Seriously put a bag on it in future.

How the hell can it be "less effective".
You'll either be pregnant or you won't be, it either works or it doesn't.

I'd imagine taking the pill almost immediately gives a higher % chance of it working than two days later, and after the 72 hours the chance of it working is negligible.

Here are a few locations if its any use OP:

Ballymun Health Centre, Ballymun, Dublin 9

Coolock Health Centre, Cromcastle Road, Coolock, Dublin 5

Hartstown Health Centre, Hartstown Road, Clonsilla, Dublin 15

North Strand Health Centre, North Strand, Dublin 1

Swords Health Centre, Bridge Street, Swords, Co Dublin

If none of those are nearby then ring D-DOC 1850 22 44 77 to see where your nearest one is.

And this is another reason why the pill/depo provera/the SNIP were invented. A raincoat isnt always effective which is why if anyone is to be sexually active Its best to be EXTRA careful....failing that buy a pram.

OP, next time try an asprin, place between knees and hold it there until the urge passes, 100% effective.:pac:

    ah to be young again.

I remember the first time i had sex.

We were both young, she was younger than i.

We had sex in the Lucan spa hotel in Dublin.

Not a rubber in sight.. 2 strokes i pulled out and we both went into shock... oooh noes!! you're going to be pregnant!!! I was violently ill at the thought, bless my innocence.. and she sent me marching down to the hotel toilet to get condoms so i could finish the job.

Losing my virginity was one of the worst expierences of my life.

... oh btw.. the morning after pill is no joke.. youtake that once or twice in your life max... its a serious drug that can fcuk a woman up inside if abused.. so dont use them like panadol.

Not to be taken more than once per cycle(the laydees will know what this means & the unfortunate men that have to endure the bitchfest that occurs during it)

Im going to start shipping them down and selling them in hundreds at the Fairyhouse market. I even have my CD full of 1920s prohibtion swing music for the drive

On a side note I went to the morning after clinic with a friend once. It was a Sunday morning and the entire waiting room was populated by ill tempered women looking to take revenge on the only penis in the room for what had been done to them a few hours before. I sunk behind cosmo for half an hour.

It's apparently fairly dangerous, and not just something to take because you can't be arsed using protection.

Oh I'm sure people would be stupid enough to abuse it, but if they had a system of recording anyone that takes it and making sure they weren't taking the piss it could be alright.

AFAIR There are some pretty serious side effects if it is taken incorrectly.

Well perhaps if more women were willing to take it up the ass there'd be less unwanted pregnancies?

If you're stuck go into a pharmacy and ****ing beg them. They'll give it to you usually.

Most pharmacies are open but you won't get the 56 euro back if you're on DPS.

yea.. your probably right.. Might i remind you however, no drug is absolutely "safe" and abuse of any drug has side effects
How often can it be taken?
Emergency contraception should only be used in an emergency. It is not suitable for regular use as other methods are more reliable over time. There are many forms of contraception you can use regularly and you should seek advice from your doctor on a method that would be suitable for you

There is a gulf between regular use and ''taking it once or twice in your life'' for fear of dreadful side-effects. The MAP is the only drug I've heard people doling out such dire warnings about.

Wouldn't that be a lovely story for the kids though?

"Where did I come from mammy?"

"Well, I asked advice about condoms on the internet, and then it was the weekend and you know how that is..."

WHY WOULD YOU THINK THATS A GOOD PERCENTAGE :(

In NZ you can go to the chemist and pick one up. You're taken to a side room to have chat with the pharmacist and go over some health questions etc and its done.

If going up north or to any clinic Only She can collect the pill make sure she's with you and explain the situation. They will not give it out over the counter to a Man or any random woman. The two of you go in and get it, explain your situation. You will find the people are decent :)

and to all the smart arses... The day it happens to you, i bet you'll shíte yourself! What comes around an all that.....
