I'm somewhat doubtful about your claims that you'd feel the same about the likes of abortion/euthanasia/gay marriage irregardless of your religion.

How is this relevant to the current situation? Or how is it applicable to anything else?

If people take pictures like these on private property without the permission of the property holder, I am opposed in every single case.

In this case it's plain abusive however, the church is left open for people to come and pray, not for people to do this.

Even if I disagree with you on every issue (which I doubt), but all I ask for you is to respect the freedoms of Christians to believe what they believe and to respect their property. I'm probably not going to agree with you on abortion, euthanasia, or gay marriage but that doesn't mean that people should be hostile towards me or other people who disagree just because well... we disagree with you. It's ridiculous.

I generally seek to be peaceable with everyone irrespective of what they believe or value. This photographer did not.

Does someone who has been abused forget it the second it's over?

This church is a Church of England church, not a Catholic Church. Even if it was a Catholic Church, most Catholics are opposed to the sexual abuse scandals in that church.

I feel for the abused, but that is no justification to desecrate a church particularly when that church isn't even responsible for abuse.

I'll respect their freedom to do whatever they want when they start respecting mine.

Hm, what freedoms that affect you do Christians not respect? Just curious?

It'd bring the thread wildly off topic if I went into that. :)
    For another day.

Fair enough, but your reasoning is as follows:

    1. I didn't like the church.
    2. Therefore bad things should happen to the church.

That's awfully childish don't you think?

Look, I'm not wishing churches to be bombed or anything. My earlier post was merely a quip.

    Here are the photos...

    http://www.neolestat.com/neolestat_church.htm

Personally I think this is a storm in a tea cup. Maybe the priest ought to take God to court for creating Adam and Eve naked and placing them in a public place – a garden no less – totally undressed. (OK, so they may have been the only human residents at the time, but the principal is still the same.) What’s more, He then gave them the command to “Go forth and multiply”… and He wasn’t talking about mathematics. Can you imagine them, sporting around, having sex everywhere, and every which way, all in God’s brand spanking new garden (not sure how much spanking might have gone on tho, lol)… and all in front of the Almighty Himself! Someone might even suggest that God created sex! What a blasphemous idea! (lol) Sadly it seems some clergy are not only out of touch with reality but they're out of touch with God too. I respectfully suggest this clergyman reads the Song of Solomon - in the Bible - he might learn a thing or two!

    nothing wrong with those photos.

the story will generate alot of free publicity for Andy and the women in the photos if nothing else.

Yes, absolutely... it's a spectacular own goal on the part of the clergy... they couldn't have generated more interest in the photos if they'd put them up on display in the church itself! I've seen articles about it on the websites of publications in India, Thailand and Australia. Amazing!

About time the churches started to fight back and sue for a change. :D

The pictures of semi-naked models cavorting amongst gravestones and inside the church were taken at St Michael Penkivel Church in Cornwall.

Now photographer Andy Craddock is the subject of legal action by the Diocese of Truro for trespass and not having permission to take photographs, accusing him of blasphemy.

Mr Craddock, his girlfriend and a couple of models used the 13th century church without the Reverend Andrew Yates knowing and then published the pictures on his website.

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/england/cornwall/8179635.stm

Rumour has it the Church said they wouldn't have minded if the models would have been young boys, apparently.

Absolute garbage. If they did why didn't they do something about over the last 70 years and more? It took courageous journalists to bring into the public domain in the 1990s and people rebelling against the Catholic Church to make it stop. The Catholic chruch has to be beaten and beaten down to stop its destruction of society and of people. We hear this rubbish that only a minority of clergy carried out the abuse. Maybe so, but the majority covered up and hid it and let it happen, all the way to the different Popes.

I've got bad news for you, that will never happen. The Catholic Church has been around long enough and when you depart this earth, it will still be around.

Great news for me personally, I'm a proud Catholic. Not a perfect one but a proud one.

fortunately in these more enlightened times more and more people are waking up to the nonsense espoused by the church and hopefully it's demise should come sooner rather than later.

Actually many figures in the Catholic Church have outwardly condemned these acts. It'd be highly dishonest to say that this wasn't the case.

It certainly is nothing but fiction that all priests carried out abuse, or even most of them did.

Again, I'm not here to defend the Catholic Church on this thread, because the church where this happened is an Anglican Church (aka English Protestantism) it has nothing to do with the Vatican or the Pope, therefore the discussion about child abuse is 100% irrelevant to this thread.

Maybe a proud Catholic but one who doesnt know much about your religions history. Catholicism has been stripped of a lot of its power. Very few bother listen to its bigoted and fascist opinions on contraception, sex, abortion, pre-marital sex, divorce, homosexuality, rock 'n roll music. It can't randomly rape children and murder who it wants anymore and arrange burnings at the stake. It is going to be taken out of education system in Ireland eventually therefore stopping its brainwashing of innocent children. So I have bad news for you friend, the Catholic Church may stay but its power will dwindle.

Hate to dissapoint you 'friend' but not going to happen.

Something they never thought was possible is happening in North East India, the Catholic religion is growing stronger and on a global level, continues to grow.

The Catholic Church is not going anywhere, it's been dealing with people like yourself for hundreds of years.

It is of course your right to be proud to be associated with the most "successful" international paedophile ring the world has ever seen. It is also your right to be proud of their behaviour in trying to undermine the victims' accounts, stifle every investigation and repatriate the profits of abuse to the Vatican. If you can see any remorse whatsoever that wasn't forced onto them by the media and bitterly resented as they believed themselves to be above the laws pertaining to other citizens, you are a better man than me. As a christian I cannot help but believe that the management of the Catholic Church are an abomination in the eyes of Christ. Their steadfast refusal to go on shows like PrimeTime and questions and Answers, argues a fear of the truth inconsistent with their calling and a cowardice that one would suspect from an institution that abuses the vulnerable for profit. I would agree that there are many, many more good priests than bad ones (as there are Guards) but this is not a defense against prosecution for heinous organised crime. As to your point that the catholic church will be around long after we're gone; so will Herpes.

Having avoided my original points it appears you have no problem with the systematic rape of children. You are a very sick minded individual. Yes the Catholic Church is the most successful enterprise in the world but you have absolute no moral integrity. And regard to people following what the Catholic Church has to say, i take it you believe rock 'n roll is the devils music and contraception is a sin. As I said, people rebelling against the Catholic Church has allowed the world to be a more free place.

Heh mate, I would have to say that I think it is you being dishonest here. They have made statements of remorse but their behaviour over many decades to date in covering up these scandals and trying to evade justice argues a disingenuousness which I don't believe has got past you. I don't think it will get past Jesus. Confession, genuine remorse and a willingness to atone for past sins?? Pffft.

Where you have incredibly poor people you will always have Catholic Church missionaries.

They thrive on suffering for membership you see.

Religion aside, if someone snuck around one of my properties and used it without my permission i'd be rightfully entitled to sue the bolox off them. And another thing, I didnt see the cowardly pervert try anything like this in front of a Mosque. He's just like a lot of twats who pick on supposedly easy targets. Hopefully the church will destroy him with vengance that can only come from religious types. Or at least leave him facing bankruptcy.
    Thats all.

How is that dishonest? I said the Catholic Church has outwardly come out and condemned the actions of those involved, and many figures in Ireland so far including the Archbishop of Dublin, Diarmuid Martin have been involved in trying to put things right. I think that's honourable.

I have yet to wonder what relevance either the Catholic Church, or child abuse has to do on a thread about a non-Catholic Church.
