If you didnt see the ad for next week after the show tonight dont read this.
So Jenifer returns to her mothers funeral, Mckeons is gone, Scoby is out of work and the place is changed.

Intresting is what did they do about Tom Murphys Character.

that's not really a spoiler, it's the episode overview and i don't think McKeon's is gone because i saw the set up while they were filming.

Does anybody know where scobie and shamie's house is? i know i've seen it and it is wrecking my head.

also they will probably address the (untimely) death of tom murphy by referencing his character throughout the episode maybe Shamie will have moved to australia <- just a thought. i also heard that Scobie will be upping schticks to Australia too.

Sorry yeah, set in Dublin. It's very "Dublin" in fact so if you don't like the common Dublin accent and associated characters then best stay away. It looked like it was shot in Tallaght I think. Yer man from that "I don't know what a tracker mortage" ad is in it.

See from the trailer, Ger and Jen have some unresolved differences still. Should make for interesting viewing next Sunday.

I watched Pure Mule when it first aired and caught a few episodes of the recent repeats. And yet it only dawned on me during the last episode that Deirdre (Jennifer's sister) is the winner of the Lovely Girls competition from Father Ted. We didn't get much of a chance to hear her lovely laugh though.

First of all, let me just say this....Tubridy is a bolox. That is all on that matter.

As for Pure Mule, I watched it when it was on a few years back. It's pretty good by RTE's standards.

RTE does get on my nerves. They churn out years and years of unbelievable ****e, Fair City, The Clinic etc. etc. with the same auld heads on every time you turn on the telly, or open the RTE guide. I wouldn't mind if any of them were any good, they wouldn't get a job on hospital radio in any other country.

There was a thing on a good few years back now, called A Thing Called Love, or something like that, yer man Lombard outta Pure Mule was in it too. It was pretty good, and as someone mentioned Legend, which maybe could have been better, but made a decent change from the other bolox they put out. But the main problem with RTE is that you get one good show maybe every five years and then it's back to the usual rubbish.

I should probably mention the other Irish stations which are just as bad if not worse. TG4 is about the best of them.

Oh and as far as the accents go, I know 2 people from Bannagher and they talk just like the characters in Pure Mule do. Charlene McKennas real accent sometimes slips through, but I think she's from the North somewhere and those accents can be hard to lose completely. Doesn't matter though because if the acting's good you can forget about the accents.

    Charlene McKenna is Jennifer.

I think you have to take most channels as churning out at least 80% so if your RTÉ or even TV3 or TG4 you have to be very careful of the very few dramas that you will produce. I can except the clinic I wouldn't rate it as one of their worst dramas, I do think it needs to be axed after this season, 8 years is enough too much for some. As for Fair City =====> All soaps should be axed

Love Is The Drug I also agree was very underrated.

Yes I thought Jennifers accent was a bit too pronouned. But that said McKenna is a good enough actress.

I looked her up there, she's actually from Monaghan. So there's a bit of a northern twang there alright. Sometimes Jennifers accent sounds a bit Dundalkish, a bit Steve Staunton, but as I said her acting more than makes up for the odd occasion where her accent slips.

Also I think although this show, and others mentioned might not be to everyones likings, it's good to see some people on the telly with accents other than D4 ones.

Yes know that you mention it there was a bit of the louth accent in there. Definitely thought her accent stood out a bit from the others in the show

Pure Mule is the only series I have ever watched a 2nd time, I just think it is an excellent portrayal of how everybody's lives are linked in one way or another.

Can't wait for the new episodes. I have them on Sky + so I can see them in one sitting

I got caught up with the whole series on youtube last night. I'd forgotten how enjoyable it was.
Really looking forward to these new episodes now.

Ahm no, I don't think so....

It was about a family with three boys in it, all at different ages and it showed them all dealing with their respective love lives. Garreth Lombard (Scoby) was the oldest brother, and then Allan Leech was in it too, he was the middle brother and fell in love with this girl with a big afro....

I'm sure it was on way before Pure Mule, I vaguely remember talking about it in school, which I had left by the time Pure Mule was on.

    Unfortunately, no.

I grew up not a million miles away from where Pure Mule was based and imo the accents are close enough. As has been said already I though Jennifer's accent is way too overstated as are one or two others. Scoby's is spot on. But if you want to nail the accents perfectly then you need actors from the area. Not many of them seem to be from anywhere near the area at all although Niall (a peripheral character in it) is played by a guy called Dermot Ward from Athlone. All in all I don't think it has a big effect on the show as a whole because people from other areas of the country wouldn't know a Midlands accent if it took them up the arse e.g. "They all sound like tinkers". The accents actually drive my mother cracked because she's from Offaly herself :D

That's true about the accents. I'm sure anyone who went to see PS I Love You, who wasn't Irish, didn't have a problem with Gerard Buttlers diabolical attempt at being Irish.
Likewise, anyone from outside the general Banagher/Offaly area probably don't think anything of the accents.

Speaking of which Mini Drivers irish accents take the biscuit. Particularly when she tried to do one when telling that joke in Good Will Hunting. Was a good joke though!

They said that there was a DVD coming out "finally" this year with the two episodes on tonight and tomorrow (I think), so in total 8 episodes. Eugene O'Brien said this on with Tubridy during the week.
