Sorry, don't have the tools either! :(

I also need to do this on my cab. It currently has a metal control panel with two sets of six buttons. The overlay is totally ruined though.

I want to make it into a Neogeo machine so two of the button holes will have to go & the existing 4 buttons need to be alligned differently. That's why I was thinking about making it out of wood myself.

    Sounds good.
At least you currently have a 6 button setup though.
I am stuck with 3, did manage to put 2 flipper buttons at the side of the cab for pinball though.
The x arcade probably would have solved my problem but it looks like its too small for my control panel, pity..

The control panel is the only thing that annoys me on the cab, I did get it for nothing so can't complain.

you think yours is bad, look at the way mine wer laid out...
Was thinking about a trackball but don't know, also not going to keep the overlay as I will need something that comes down more at the front as i snipped with scissors so its jagged as f**k, looks ok from the distance though. I am thinking of a 6 or 8 button for each player, using the current 1+2 player (they usually light up but havent got them connected at the moment) for admin buttons, moving the 1+2 player to the front beside the mame sticker. Its far from smooth and I covered over the bolts hodling the joysticks (not a good idea).

Sorry about the angle of the pic....

If you gave a few pics, the old panel and an idea of what you wanted i'm sure the fella who done mine could come up with something good, you've plenty of room anyway :)

buy a 28 mm hole saw for a tenner in B&Q, pick the new button positions and pop in a few buttons.

    Cheers purplec,
I think I might just get the whole panel redone in wood.
It will tidy it up, plus I can get a decent overlay and then lash some lexan on it. Its difficult to do that cirrently with the metal panel and the ways its designed.
Using the guy that cynos recommended so hopefully it will be done in a few weeks.
    Thanks again for the reply.
