You cant put the disc from one car into another car window as the disc has the registration of the insured car on it and if checked by a guard they could do you for fraudently displaying the disc. Your better off just leaving it bare as it is only a guard who can do you for non display of an insurance disc anyway not a traffic warden etc as with tax discs! I have done this with cars over the past 15 years and have never received a fine for non display. The cars are always taxed and NCT'd and i carry the insurance policy with me so if stopped by a guard i can prove there and then that i am covered. Unless you meet a nasty guard they will leave you on your way.

If you are really worried about it though what it is possible to do is transfer the insurance onto the other car for a few weeks and then change back. You will have a disc for the window with proper registration on it and when you are asked to produce you just bring in your policy for your own car that shows you are covered to drive other cars!
