If I remember correctly, I turned the pad upside down and it worked normally? :D

Brought my SNES to Sligo for some retro gaming. The only problem is I have to play in AV composite. I have a s-video cable but I've tried a few s-video to scart adapters and they are absolutely appalling. The quality is actually worse than with composite with weird rainbow effects around everything. I'd say it's even worse than RF in a way.

Anyone got any solutions to getting s-video to work through scart properly or links to a good converter? I've a scart cable ordered but will need a solution for my N64.

Juggling a few things at the moment.

Just about to finish off Jake Hunter:Detective Story. Decided that the best way to deal with 'Jake Hunter Narcolepsy' was to use it to my advantage - Been playing it for an hour or two before going to sleep at night. :D

Works out really well. Make some good progress and then drift off to smooth jazz...

Still making my way through Dark Souls 2 - Almost finished now. I'd say one good long session and it'll be done. Overall, it's not nearly as difficult as the first. Some parts are a breeze (although it might be the order in which I've been finishing areas)

Also just started Castlevania: Circle of the Moon for the first time after being spurred on the AGS 101.

Although the screen is glorious, one thing I've found is that the SP really is not the most ergonomic of consoles to hold. In fact, it's down right uncomfortable if you're trying to use it for an action game.

Thankfully the main reason I bought it was Mother 3, so I won't be doing any D pad gymnastics in that.

I had a Snes in Sligo as well, though I got mine there at launch back in the day!

Rediscovered the joy of Miami Law Crisis today. An underrated and ultra wonderful Nintendo DS gem from those buxom young pups at Hudson Soft. :)

Had a great gaming session with a mate last night.

MvC2, Capcom Verus SNK, Smash TV, Contra Shattered Soldier, Gradius V and finished it off with some Last Blade.

He's after picking up a heart monitor for running. Going to bring it over the next time for the craic and hook myself up while playing Ibara :D

Apparently a 'Gameboy game' has arrived in Bray.

Well that's everything else I've been playing now on hiatus.

Donkey Kong Country, Axelay, Contra III and R-Type III yesterday. Really tempted to start The Minish Cap again

I know the faux-retro fad doesn't sit well around here but is anyone playing Shovel Knight? I'm completely hooked, playing it on my laptop with a cheapo dealextreme pad, would love to give it a replay on 3DS sometime, glad its been a success for the developer, it surpassed his lifetime earnings estimates on the first day.

Not sure about that, some of them are pretty damn good imo. I'm just waiting on Shovel Knight to come out on the 3DS then I'll snap it up. Seems excellent by all accounts.

Any other suggestions like Shovel Knight? Btw if you do play it I recommend going for every jewel you can and get in the habit of checking walls for secrets, you need the money...

Not the same but in a similar retro feel I highly recommend Hotline Miami. Such a great game.

Oh yeah, forgot about that, GTA V distracted me a few months back.

Cave Story is great, I haven't played Rogue Legacy yet but it's supposed to be good. Started playing Steamworld Dig on the 3DS recently and it's pretty good I thought, different type of game to the above though.

Is Steel Empire on the EU 3DS shop yet? Want!

I don't find it too hard especially compared to ghoulsn'ghosts and goblins. It only gets actually tough in the castle stages where it's a bit unfair due to the amount of Red Arremers.

La Mulana is an absolute gem. You just need to take actual notes in a notebook!

It's like 30 dollars on the US shop, seems a bit steep. Is it a remake or a new game.

Can you buy US 3DS EShop titles for a EU 3DS?

Yeah it's a 3D remake of sorts. Supposedly excellent. I used to have the Mega Drive version and that was ace as well.

Rogue Legacy has some aspects that you may find annoying, the jumping feels a tad floaty, but I certainly got my 10 euro worth out of it. It's hard to put down once you get going and it's got a nice challenge without being very unforgiving.

I played quite a lot of Spelunky as well. Wonderful game but I couldn't really get good enough at it to get beyond the second world so my attention kind of wandered elsewhere. I had an awful lot of fun with it at the same time.

Any other good platformers and/or rogue-likes for the PC I might like? Haven't really found anything that grabs my attention since.

Are the loading times not prohibitive on that one?
You can probably find the PC version out there and it's less likely to be hampered by the constant interruption.
If you like Max Payne you might try Stranglehold on the 360 and PS3, lots of diving and shooting and more diving, fun times.

Just watched the CGR review of that, looks great but 30 quid for an old Megadrive game? No thanks. Tenner max.

Playing Fez on the PS4 last night, pure brilliant stuff.
Must dl it for the Vita as well, seeing as I cross platform own them.
It's a trick Nintendo have sadly missed with their consoles.

    Don't really mind it tbh.

I had the gamecube hooked up today and played a good bit of smash bros melee. Trying to unlock all the characters again as I lent my memory card with my old save and all the characters to a friend years ago and never got it back :'(

I have it on the N64, GC and Wii, looking forward to the 3ds and WiiU editions.

    Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy

Not as good as Outcast but oodles of missions so its a bit meaty. Had to download an OpenGL DLL file of some sort in order to get it playable and a few effects are not rendered correctly but for an 11 year old game it still looks fairly good.

Last game I played was Legend of Zelda: Link To The Past on my laptop.

Yes it is emulation but my entire console (Minus Game Boy) and most of my game collection (i.e the stuff that hasn't been bought in the last 9 weeks or not on Game Boy) is on it's way from Australia.

On top of that, I have only just managed to get another SNES after mine went missing and so far haven't found Zelda at a price I am willing to pay.

I have also been playing Batman on the Game Boy. Damn I love that game!
