"British" refers to those from Britain.
Your Passport confirms you as a citizen of the UK but that doesn't mean you're British.

you mean 'Northern Irish' as in coming from 'Northern Ireland' which is part of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland which entitles me to and to which i have availed of, a 'British' passport which clearly states i am a 'British' Citizen and therefore British?

I think the term should be changed to 'United Kingdom-ish'

Another thread ruined by people playing silly buggers with semantics.

It goes right down there with the assertation that Sinn Féin are Nazi's because they are nationalists, and socialists.

They are nationalist socialists though, arent they? If you had to describe their viewpoint...nationalist socialism would cover it as elegantly as possible.

You are British as most of the mature citizens in this country would see you as such.

It's just the inmature people who say different.

Nationalist and Socialist is different to National Socialism.

Only on the level of semantics. Nationalist Socialist is the short hand way of saying socialists who are also nationalist, or people who are socialist and nationalist.

Sorry to tell you mate but you're Northern Irish, your political alliance has absolutely nothing to do with your demonym.
It's people in Northern Ireland calling themselves "Irish" or "British" that only serves to fan the flames of hatred.
You and everybody else up north are not Irish or British you are simply Northern Irish and the sooner evrybody realises that the better.

Completely disagree. How dare you!

The sooner people like you, who make such claims, drop that idea, the better!

parhaps you should consider joining the BNP, they to like to dicate what peoples national identy is or is not. A point you should consider is since you don't actully know me in person is how can you possiably tell me what my actual national identy is?
As for the BNP as a unionist i have nothing but contempt for them, they are a populist party masking a facist agenda, they are quite happy to morph thier identy into whatever will get them the most votes.

    you think?

    That picture is shocking.

It disgusts me to see the Republic's flag sharing space with that vile party's name. They can take this policy (and their other hair-brained schemes) and shove them, excuse my French.

Its some of the enigma that is some racist organisations.

They dislike catholics, immigrants, Irish but they prefer them over "muslim pakis".

It's because Irish Catholics are white, and therefore, ''more okay'' than ''Pakis''. Not quite on the BNP's acceptable list, but, y'know, at least they're not brown or black.

Or maybe they think there is a market in Ireland for their particular brand of hate.

The SDLP are a nationalist and socialist party. Yet, I've never seen John Hume donning jackboots and calling for the extermination of Jews.

I don't see this going anywhere useful.
