Press, no need for the fridge. Sure you'd want to be mad in the head to put them in the fridge.

unopened, press. Opened, in the fridge, but not in the tin.

    Press unopened.
Fridge for temp (less than a day) opened storage - as above -- NOT in a tin.

    Definitive answer.

@ruu, Completly agree. Maybe longer shelf life? I heard that open tins and fridge is bad

Keep them in the press if they're in a tin.

Never leave an open tin of any food in the fridge.

No idea, do you see them in a fridge in tesco or whatever? :p
That;s usually a good indicator where things should go, how it is stored in the first place.

A little pointless alright. Unless you like to eat them chilled straight from the tin?

Oxygen comes in contact with the tin after it is opened and you food can get contaminated.

It depends, you can leave things in tins like golden syrup, cocoa power, etc and any food that is in a tin that is treated on the inside.

..Because a lower level of temperature helps sustain the lack of sudden growth of harmful bacteria that is all around.
Not for ever, but at least for a longer period of them than would be viable within a press.
Why do you think fridges are air tight?

Yes, it does not matter if it's in the fridge or not, it could taste tinny or you could get food poisoning.

Ok so to be on topic and being specific we're discussing tinned goods un-opened in a fridge which ya buy in a shop on a shelf. Unlike mayo we don't refrigerate it

I could be wrong but I think mayo' is a form of bacteria in itself so leaving that out at room temperatures is at the very least not good but better than leaving beans/peas out.
Commercial Mayonnaise, due to the addition of acids like vinegar or lemon juice, has a pH between 3.8 and 4.6, making it an acidic food. There is a misconception that foods like potato salad can make a person sick if left out in the sun, due to the mayonnaise spoiling. This is false; the pH of mayonnaise prevents harmful bacteria from growing in it. Left out of refrigeration, mayonnaise will develop an unappetizing taste and smell, due to other types of bacteria and moulds that can spoil it; but will not make one sick.

Mayo should be refrigerated even before opening coz when you go to make your sandwich you don't want icky warm mayo on it. Whereas there's no need to refrigerate beans before opening coz you're going to (presumably) be heating it up anyway.

I spread it on my sandwiches not study it. Some people have a social life hence my mobile boards and still with friends. You're off topic.. Beans in fridge or not? Hows you bacteria count?

Like many have said, if the tin is unopened store it in the press.

If opened ( and it states this on all tinned goods )
    Storage Instructions:

Empty unused contents into a suitable container, leave in the fridge and use it up within 2 days.

/you might thank me in Heinz sight.:pac:

Yeah I am but then again deli's tend to over cook there food/Meet tot the point where it taste's and resemble that of shoe leather, so the fact that mayo adds some flavour and mosture to your "chiken Leather role ".... :)

I've called the bluff on that emptying the tin into a suitable container jibberjabba a few year ago. Went mental and risked it. Opened can of beans popped into fridge...no problem. I must have saved myself the equivelant of two dishwashers full by now (and still counting).

I was going to suggest killing off the tinny taste with a some liver, sausages and pork chops thrown on top of the beans and then noticed you're a mod of veggieism.
I see a lifetime of decanting and extra dishes for you I'm afraid.

Any veggies I've ever known have had a tupperware fixation.
