    You know what I hate? When people use the above example of how we can read misspelled words without issue as an excuse for text speak. God damnit, it's not the same thing. It doesn't matter if it's a word with a letter or two wrong or mixed up, it still resembles that word in lenth and format. Text speak on the other hand, not only supplants characters with numbers it also greatly shortens the word, so it in no way resembles the word it was supposed to be representing.

    It also isn't an excuse for horrible walls of text without format, paragraphs, punctuation and otherwise unreadable posts. Nobody really cares about a few spelling mistakes, and indeed, the example in the OP does show that it's quite unimportant, however, it doesn't give you free reign to make unreadable headaches of posts.
