Will be there. I normally only do pistol, but what the hell, I'll give it a go. Will need to borrow Jacket and sling though.:D

I'll also be there. The only "range" time I've managed lately was a while spent tweaking things on my sitting room floor today. The DURC Open is my trial run, then we'll see where we stand.

A little more "range" time and less of the women and drink would suit you better!!:D:D:D

CityWest to the MNSCI isn't too bad, about an hour to an hour and a half. It's two hours from the city centre.

    Hi Again Guys,

Forgot to ask earlier, one of the lads is a lefty and he was wondering which lane would be best suitable for him,he has never been to midlands before, so not to clash with the guy next to him?

    Cheers,
    BountyHunter.

I am shooting- first time to shoot in Ireland for ~8 years (although I did come across for the Nationals last year when it was postponed due to the weather so second time lucky!)
Thanks to a very kind member on these boards I am borrowing a rifle (excuse #1 in the bag- not used to the rifle??)
    Can't wait....

The lanes in MNSCI are wide enough for it not to matter much (they're the same sort of setup as Comber Floydster, there's not really any barrier between them).

Booking's playing silly buggers for me again, and my fix from last time hasn't worked this time. Will try again on the laptop in a bit. Looking forward to the match now. Hopefully get some useful feedback at the DURC Open (not just "You can't shoot" - that would not be useful feedback) and be in a decent position for the nationals.

Booking's done now. Firefox didn't want to do it, but IE did the job, in case anyone else is having problems. On at 10:30 myself, then can get down to running the show.

Out of curiosity FLOYDSTER, any more coming down from the north for this? We've even got ex-pat's from the UK coming over for it now! Looking forward to it now. Seems I can shoot. Badly, but it's a start!

Not that I'm aware of!;), Don is over at the Dewar trials at Appleton and a few others are still waiting on word about the NTSA membership!;)
Looks like you might be stuck with me!

On a seperate note, while I was at Bisley there was a shooter down on one of the details who unfortunatley I didnt meet but someone might know, his name was Shaun Farrell!, any info??;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,034 ✭✭✭✭It wasn't me!

Think Leslie mentioned him yesterday. Not familiar to any of us who were there anyway. Comber's an NTSA affiliated club, so any of their members can shoot in this without any further financial outlay. Not sure about any of the others.

And well done to FLOYDSTER for winning it. :)

It was an interesting final, there were 5 shooters all within 1 point of each other all of whom had a chance to get silver or bronze. I was lucky enough to have the extra point to allow me to stay ahead of the others and take the silver but I was certainly feeling the pressure when I scored 9s and heard the others scoring 10s!

Good match. Tough day. Made something of a tit of myself, but learned useful things as well. Started badly, got better, ended abysmally. :p Had three 8's in my first five shots, ended up with a 91. Things got better with a 95 and a 96, was going well, but stalled off in the second half of the next card for a 94, then my eyes went completely and I had an 89 and an 83 (:(). So near and yet so far. Maybe next year.

Well lads, just a quick post to say thanks to all the shooters on Sunday. Did not shoot myself (none of the gear or proper setup). Went over to watch and must say it was a fine display of shooting by all. The routine, the setup, and especially the electronic scoring system from Rathdrum. Simply put BRILLIANT. The best bit for me was that the lads, although in a serious competition, took time to answer (what i'm sure were some silly) questions. And the range of rifles was amazing. Thoroughly enjoyed the day. Thanks again.

DURC'll get that team of three next time. ;) If I'd had the finger out we might have gotten in on sunday. Great to see such a good turnout. It was a nice day, if heinously difficult to shoot in.

Heh, I hope so. Just a bit miffed with the last third or so, should have been at least about 565, which would have been sufficient. Great educational experience though.

Well done on the Silver Conor and best wishes to the winner Gary Duff and all that took part.

It was very interesting to be able to watch the scoring on the Rathdrum electronic targets system it really makes it a spectator sport. It was great to watch a very skillful discipline.

    Hi Guys.

Well done to all who participated last Sunday. I am a "retired" prone shooter and was thinking of getting back into it.

I still have a jacket (which might fit), scope, sling, but I wish to purchase a good rifle (new or second hand). Any ideas or any one know of one for sale?:
