Sloooow run this morning, legs feeling sore and heavy. 3.52 miles in 35:22, avg pace 10:01 (eek!!), avg hr 162. Really really windy this morning, the kind of wind that whips your breath straight out from under your nose, iykwim. Wind in my face most of the way. Just glad it's done.
    You are a hound!!
    eh thanks?;)

First run since last week, blood test on wed which was awful and it knocked me out for a few days, very strange. 4.14 miles in 40:33. Very very cold out there this morning.

3 miles, 29:45, 9:50 avg pace. Very sore arm this morning, got the swine flu jab yesterday and my arm hurt every time I took a step, so 3 miles instead of the planned 4-5.

4.55 miles in 43:53, avg pace 9:39. Enjoyed that, not too cold outside, bit of uphill, bit of downhill. As usual, it was hard getting out of bed but at least it's done now!

3.58 miles in 34:50, avg pace 9:44. Grand this morning, not too cold. Nearly gave a binman a heart attack though, ran around the truck just as he was stepping out to get a bin, poor chap leapt in the air with a roar of "Jaysus what the f***". Will not scare anyone else, promise.

4 miles in 36:59, avg 9:15. Stomach problems again, didn't run yesterday because of it. Ran today and didn't feel well at all. At 3 miles had to tell myself, don't panic you'll be home in less than 10 minutes. Last mile done in 9:06:eek: Very frickin' fast for me.

4.5 miles in 43:30 this morning. Avg pace 9:39. First run since Sunday. Haven't felt quite tickety boo all week, not sick but an all round general feeling of sh***ness. Knackered tired, look and feel like crap. Waiting for blood test result from doc, think my B12 level might have dropped past it's previous low, that could explain some of it. I'm registered for the Aware 10k on Saturday and OH is picking up my number today, but if I still feel like this, I'll think twice. Anyway, apart from all that, run was grand this morning.

Hope you feel better, and good luck on Saturday if you race :)

Did the Aware 9k this morning, 51:13. Dead chuffed with that time but bit miffed about missing the extra 1k cos by the looks of my time, I was heading for 57 mins which would have been a massive pb for me. (only previous 10k was Great Ireland run which I did in, eh, 67 mins:eek:). Anyway, it was a lovely morning for a run. Got parking in the Pope's cross car park, sat in the car trying to keep warm for a while - it was 3C out there! Headed down to the (not very well marked) start lline and the obligatory 20 min wait for a toilet. Got started and as usual, spent the first km trying to get around people, time for first km 6:10, all the rest between 5:30 & 5:43. Nice to go the opposite way to most of the other races, up rather than down Khyber (I think; I get all the hills confused in the park). Felt good the whole way around which was surprising cos I felt so crap all week (got blood test results back from doc, b12 "dangerously" low again, think my doc loves a bit of drama). Reckon I could have gone wee bit faster on the downhills but I'm a wuss and it was quite slippy on some spots. Anyway, lovely run, no problems, back home now lashing into a fruit scone and jam. Happy days...

    Nice one :)

Shame it ended up being a 9k though... how about dropping down another km and doing the Raheny 5 in January? ;)

May well do the Raheny one RK, think I got a leaflet for it this morning. Will investigate further...:)

4.34 miles in 41:31, avg pace 9:34. Brrrr, cold this morning. Grand run, nothing strange. On another topic, couldn't believe the amount of Christmas tree lights on at 6.30 a.m:eek: Do people leave their trees on all night?

4.2 lovely snowy miles in 40:02, avg pace 9:33. First time to ever run in snow/sleet/hail - got all three this morning! Really enjoyed that - that's decided it then, I'm obviously a wee bit mental...:P

Not much time this morning, so decided to try 2-3 fast (for me) miles. Mile 1 warming up at 9:04, mile 2 8:55 and mile 3 8:59. 3.62 miles in 32:40, quickest I've ever run. Off now to do the usual million things that need to be done in a house with 3 kids before 10 a.m. on a Sunday...:p

Note to self: NEVER go 7 days between runs again. 3.11 slow, crappy miles in 29 mins, avg pace 9:21. The frost and Christmas pretty much put paid to last week. Anyway, enough excuses. Felt like walking this morning during the run for the first time in ages. Didn't walk but did get very blinkin' slow towards the end. Definitely getting out tomorrow.

Hey rachel you never stop amazing me- your "slow, crappy miles at 9.21 pace" are almost 2 mins a mile faster than my 3.77 miles today! Cant wait to be like you and not walk during me runs. Hope you had a good christmas:)

2.66 miles in 24:44, 9.27 pace. Very very icy out there this morning, wanted to go further but nearly went head over heels twice and when the third slip happened at the end of my road, I decided it was a sign and headed home. I can really feel the missed week in my legs, feel very heavy and ploddy. Hopefully, if I can get a few more runs in this week, that feeling will go! Had a look at Hal Hidgon's winter training plan so think I'll give that a go. Day 1 had 15 mins run and I did almost 25, so happy days!

4.73 miles in 44:59, avg pace 9:30. Mad windy out there this morning. Basically ran a square lap iykwim, around where I live, but the wind was still in my face no matter which way I went. Weird... Off now to get the kids ready to see "Alvin & the Chipmunks, the squeaquel", God help me:eek:

And I thought I was slow the other morning? HA! 3.1 miles in 30:30, avg pace 9:50:eek: Excuses? It's lashing rain, it's shockin' windy and I'm still full of chocolate. Consoling myself with the fact that at least I got out of the bloody bed and ran, even if it was soooo slow. And I've run 4 days in a row which I don't think I've done before. But enough with excuses, MUST GO FASTER :p

Just checked the run on connect.garmin.com and I seemed to lose signal towards the end, so the distance wasn't fully mapped. Mapmyrun'd it and it came out at 3.5 miles rather than 3.1, which means avg pace is closer to 9:20 than 9:50. Garmin mapped the run perfectly till I hit Griffith Ave so all I can think of is it might have got lost cos of combination of low cloud and lots of trees on Griffith Ave. This ever happen to anyone before? Doesn't really matter but makes me feel a weeny bit better!

So 2009, how was it for me? there's less than an hour left so it's the perfect time to look back. This time last year, I couldn't run down the road. Now I can! I started trying to run in February, it took a while but I'm getting there. I've lost a bit of weight, I'd like to lose a bit more. I don't think I'm ever going to get much faster, but I think I can definitely get a wee bit better. I only did a few races this year so maybe next year I'll try a bit more. So next year is all about getting a little bit better. A big thank you to all the boardsies who dropped into my log to offer support and advice, I really appreciated it and will be looking for more when I start my new log tomorrow:). Happy new year everyone and here's to a fitter and better 2010!
