absolutely fine for most but quite easy to injure yourself at first.

Lots of options but remember its just a tool not a way to train - just like kettlebells etc

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 21,981 ✭✭✭✭Hanley

Are they just like blast straps or rings, or is there something more to them?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,394 ✭✭✭Transform

basically the same just a bit more variety due to the hnadles being different

are there many places in dublin that to training sessions with these? i know of one place in donaghmede but it seems the instructor is unreliable. ie classes being cancelled within a couple of hours from start time. its defo something id like to try...

Hey, ye the TRX is pretty good. Its great in a way that you can train full body with one piece of equipment. If I could bring a kettlebell on a flight and not have to sell my car, great, but in the meantime the trx is brillo for travelling. Its good for sports specific stuff cos of the forces it places on your core, stabilizers etc (depending on the exercises of course). I use them a bit in ciruit classes, but I dont know anywhere that runs exclusive TRX classes here. They're big in the US so Im sure its just a matter of time till someone picks up on it.

Funnily enough only this morning a guy called me to tell me about TRXs, but I already have some. His company is Sports Fitness Ireland, its on facebook I think, dont know how much they're going for though

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 901 ✭✭✭David Jones

I had the use of one but to be honest they are very expensive for what they are, becasue they join and come down in a V they can also rub and really get in the way of push ups, dips etc. We bought adjustable straps in Viking Marine in Dun Laoire and D clips and PVC pipe in Woodies and made six homemade suspension systems for 100 euro. Will post a picture next session. If you have money to burn get a TRX but you could make one, buy a kettlebell plus other gear for the same price. You can also buy a carabiner in a climbing shop for quick release and ease of use.

I'm agreeing with you about price, however I'm finding very difficult to believe that you can get official TRX Suspension Trainer for 1/2 price.. hmmmmm

But if you look at the ad, there's some guy saying you can't injure yourself cos you're only working with bodyweight. So it's ok.

    Also, where is Rubadub?
I expected him to outline a schematic for making your own Home TRX out of webbing, roof rack straps and a few bits of PVC Pipe.

Based off the fact they're selling Beats by Dre headphones for < $60 on that site, I'd be 100% confident in saying everything is a complete knock off - http://www.eportireland.com/categories.html?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage.tpl&product_id=257&category_id=47

apparently you can get them here for a fraction of the price;)

Some of them cost less than 50 dollars so I'm not going to say what I think about those cheap Trx Suspension trainers I linked before

The one on eport might be fake, this is the eport

    This is the trx site
    FTKMG1_5x600.jpg
Notice the smaller strap thing has more black material on eport, now check this webpage

    http://drnotley.blogspot.com/2010/09/exposing-trx-suspension-trainer-fake.html
He shows more black on the fake too, and a yellow dot on the logo on the fake bag

    The ongoing battle

Other legal team are constantly working for your safety,

Trading Sites: We have delisted 74 eBay UK listings, totaling 508 units, since 12/1/10. During the same time period we have also submitted 18 notices of claimed infringement, accounting for 22 sellers, on Amazon UK, and also delisted 8 listings on the eBid.net UK site. We have not seen any counterfeit commerce on Amazon UK since 12/22/10, and I'm hoping that indicates we were dealing with a small cadre of Amazon sellers who have abandoned their commerce. We continue to see traffic on eBay.

Why overpay when the same thing is nearly half the price on donedeal and eport?
I do think the TRX is overpriced, you will be paying for their marketing, just like overpriced beer etc. But reading the report on that link I gave it seemed inferior quality. They may have less quality control and just use cheaper components with worse ratings. e.g. you pay a hell of a lot more for mountain climbing grade carabiners than bog standard ones (the metal clip things).

If you know you have a a fake I would suggest testing it in a safe manner, e.g. really tug on a single strap well, perhaps with 2 people. Last thing you want is it failing when you are doing upside down shrugs or something.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 19 Paulmct123

Ive bought the one from eport and its great. No complaints and I saved a lot of money. I dunno how anyone can say its fake just because of the price. Eport could be buying direct from TRX which they would probably get a lot cheaper and in turn they could sell for cheaper. Personally id rather not pay a lot of extra money just to have a bigger or nicer picture like TRX have. It dont make no sense, but if ya have plenty of extra money why not spend it on yourself instead of giving it to TRX for a different PICTURE to eports.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 19 Paulmct123

Also, if Eport put up same picture as TRX have up would that mean there not fake?????

No you tit, it's a different brand. You're supposedly paying for the exact same product in both cases with the trx.

If 2 litres of dunnes stores milk was 2 quid, and 2 litres of dunnes stores milk was 1 euro from somewhere else, is 1 euro one fake? ....is the comparison you were trying to make.

No, comparing a competitors product to the trx that performs the same function and claiming the competitors product was "fake" because it was cheaper but performed the same function would be what you're arguing.

Like saying a ford is a "fake" car because it's cheaper than a Ferrari, but they both drive places.

Because anyone can claim to sell you something on the internet and give you a knock off product. Happens all the time out of china. The website has a very "chinese" feel to it, and they're selling a wide array of high end "elite" consumer products are VASTLY reduced amounts under their recommended RRP, or the price being charge on the official website.

You not think that's a bit suss no?

Like if they're selling an old version of the product, which may seem to be the case from the photo, that's fair enough - but they shouldn't claim they're selling the new version because that's not what you think you're buying.

And then there's the fact it could be illegal on so many levels too

Ya i know what your sayin but just because somethin is cheaper don't mean its fake.maybe there gettin it at wholesale price. As far as i know if you go to apple.com an iphone 4 is $499 but on apple.ie website its €499, so does this mean the one on apple.com is either an old model or fake?? The pricing may have changed by now but at one point that was the prices and as we all know $499 is a lot less than €499

They're both official sites. The one selling the fake TRXs isn't an official site.

You seem incapable of basic logical reasoning so I politely bow out and hope anyone who buys an inferior knock off product doesn't suffer physical harm as a result.

ok.look have u bought and tested the product?? If not you really have no right to say its a fake.i bought it and tested and compared to one bought from trx and THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE.so thank you for your input.

A bit out of touch with reality there.
There is no way they are buying it wholesale price and selling it for that cheap. Why would TRX screw their own product over like that for a start. Secondly, the whole sale price of a TRX is probab pretty high as its a marketed brand.
    Paulmct123 wrote: »

Apple is based out ot the US. Their products have always been cheaper in the US. They have different prices in Australia too, prob every country.

Now, if you found a dodgy looking website selling iPhone 4s for $249 - i'd be pretty confidant that they were fake and not being bought for wholesale prices.

    How did you test it?
It doesn't look like a genuine TRX brand product. The site says its the old model (surprised nobody mentioned this) and could be the reason why its cheaper. But check out the link provided above by rubadub, fakes do exist. ?They look very much the same.

Honestly, I'd say yours is a fake if you got it for that cheap. That doesn't mean its useless, could easily be perfect fine for training. But it defo won't have the same quality controls in place, so there is a chance that it is sub-standard. I'd want to be pretty sure is was strong enough before I used it.

That means nothing, the component parts are quite basic. So gettign a replica that looks the same isn't hard.

We are saying it fake, not imaginary. These thing obviously exists and of course you can do basic TRX exercsies on it. But it they are using knock off parts, then there is a chance that they are weaker. By the time you figure this out you'll prob be lying face down with a broken nose.

Mellor id like to ask you somethin.are you an expert in trx or wtf do you know bout them? You say my opinion means nothin.

Well to be honest, unless you bought a replica and fell flat on your face, your opinion means nothin.you shouldn't slam somethin unless you can prove its not genuine.

Im sure the gym instructor i brought it to knows the difference, but i guess his opinion means nothin to.

So Im sure tour gonna get me ****ed off this now byte thanks for letting me a part if your lovely discussion.
