In my situation, my nest friends all live very close to me like alot within walking distance so even though they are all going to different collages, it won't matter.

There will be a few people I'll miss, peers more so than friends, but still, what I'm doing there is just gettin contact info such as numbers, bebo, msn etc so I can keep in contact and meet up the odd time.

Then there will be the new Friends that will be made in collage so I'm not worried overall, sure, one of my best friends moved from dublin to meath there a few years back and we are still very much in contact ...distance means nothing :D

Thats really true, my best friend from Primary moved to Dublin at the begining of first year (im up here in good old Donegal) and were still really close!
she comes up every school break so its ok!

but i think you have to be like best best friends for that to work, otherwise youl drift apart!

I hate Dublin with a passion tbh. Couldn't live there if I were paid.

I only have 2 best friends from school and most of my other good friends go to a different school anyways so it wont make much of a difference!I had a best friend as a child who i only saw during the summer and she was one of teh closest people i ever had!We drifted apart not cos of distance but due to...other factors, she just changed badly! So im not really sad about leaving school and i cant wait for college and new socialising it will bring^^

yeah its sad and pretty scary but i went 2 NUIM 3 years ago and knew no one, but I made loads of new friends who I love to bits.... they are from all different parts of the country and the world but they are def my friends for life. My friends have changed a lot since school but the people I was closest too are still my best friends and its great to have something like meeting up with them when you come home for a weekend to look forward to. Facebook/bebo etc are great for keeping in touch with them 2.
