Honestly, I don't like the lineup. I went last year and that was good. This year, it's really just the sesh that I'm really looking forward to.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,604 ✭✭✭xOxSinéadxOx

yeah most of my friends are going this year but they all have **** taste :pac: I'm always knocking around by myself in the arena:cool:

Just for the people who are reporting this - MCD events are now allowed to be discussed on boards.ie again.

Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds would be the only ****** act that interests me in a major way, going to see him elsewhere though.

    BUT.

NIN, Bloc Party, Therapy?, You Me At Six, The Mars Volta, Eagles Of Death Metal, Manic Street Preachers, Regina Spektor, Mogwai, Crystal Castles, Boys Noize, Digitalism, Bloody Beetroots, MSTRKRFT.

Its gonna be a good weekend :)

And there was me all geared up for bannings :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,440 ✭✭✭✭Piste

I'm not going, though I kinda want to. Not sure if I can afford the ticket, also out of the two groups I could go with I don't think either would come to most of the bands I want to see :(

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,554 ✭✭✭zonEEE

will be there, cant wait for Deadmou5 !

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,440 ✭✭✭✭Piste

I have the money, but I'm not sure if I'd buy the ticket and end up having little money late in the summer or when I start college =/

Its a fair bit of money, but it'll be worth it, and with Electric Picnic kinda shíte this year, you have no excuse!

Does it really matter if you're on your own for a bit? None of my mates really wanna go see NIN, I'm wouldn't miss 'em for the world!

SOOOOOO glad they're headlining the 2nd Stage instead of playing the mainstage. If they dont play Hurt, I might cry.........

Was there last year, but I'm almost more excited bout it this year. It has been something I've been looking forward to as on of the 'I won't have to study any more so I'm going to go little bit crazy' things that have kept me sane over the past few months.

    Cant wait for Deadmau5!!:D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,851 ✭✭✭PurpleFistMixer

Electric Picnic >>> ******. I'm probably/possibly going to Sziget instead though. Cheaper, longer, and better weather.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 377 ✭✭CarefulNow

I wish I had the money. I went last year. I got a ticket for €90 on the Thursday night before :). Probably won't happen again this year though :(.

I'm going but I'd much rather go to Open'er in Poland. The last days line up is amazing! The prodigy followed by Placebo, then Kings of Leon.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,345 ✭✭✭SarcasticFairy

Oh I really wish I was going now! :( The line up looks pretty decent.

I'd half planned to go (as in we'd said yeah let's go, but never actually booked anything...:o) but now they really can't afford it, so it's not happening. :(

The majority of my other friends wouldn't be caught dead at it. Ugh.

Going for the 3rd year! :D

So excited as it just means that exams are OVER! Weather is supposed to be good for it this year too :)

the sick thing is, that its €75 for a 4 day ticket with camping. Even when you inlcude return flights it works out cheaper then oxegen!

I know - and Poland's a pretty cool country too. It'd be nice to hang around after for a few days. Poxy friends wouldn't do it though.

Nothing will ever beat Muse and Daft Punk. What a year.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 931 ✭✭✭banjopaul

I get free tickets to it so i'll probably go alright!:D
Wouldn't pay to go though, not worth that much money.

EP is more than just the music though. The year I went, I knew about 2 of the bands playing and still had a fantastic time.

I'm going, The line up is quite good imo
The "headliners" never interest me, althogh Blur are quite tempting

    Want to see:
    Pete Doherty
    Florence and the machine
    Yeah Yeah Yeahs
Nick Cave and the bad seeds
    Blur
    Bloc Party
    Ladyhawke
    Doves
Some others I cant remember atm

Dreading the bathrooms though, I'm a total germaphobic!

(Also I have this weird sinking feeling about posting about MCD events, I feel like a rebel :D)

Forgot to mention The Specials! Can't wait to see them. Probably won't see them again if you don't go.

The ladies can use one of these for going the toilet. They're popular at outdoor festivals.

Basically what happened is a similar courtcase happened with MCD and another forum and the ruling was that if a forum takes down defamatory material with in a reasonable length of time they're not liable, which means Boards is A-OK and the admins are allowing us to discuss MCD events again.

Didn't get tickets because I didn't think I could afford it. But now I've a job lined up for Summer. Wish I'd bought them now:(

    Its not sold out?

There's nearly always a re-release of tickets closer to the date!

    Edit: On sale now actually!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,586 ✭✭✭sock puppet

Just checked on Ticketmaster and they're still available. Assumed they'd sold out.

It's not as popular this year cos of the recession, so they're still on sale. In fact there's a deposit system where you pay a certain amount now and the balance later.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 931 ✭✭✭banjopaul

How much are the tickets going for this year anyway? I've never bought them..! I live right beside the racetrack, so free tickets, and get to walk home to a warm bed, shower and a fry every night, suits me grand!:D

    €220ish for the 3 days+camping.

and imo the camping is probally the best part!

Campsite can be gotten into easily without a camping ticket, so i don't miss much really!

Think I'll get my ticket tomorrow in any case.

Yeah credit where its due, was managed brilliantly last year compared to other years. Much less mud, constant clean up staff, way more bins and toilets, and of course the eco-cups! Brilliant, picking up three empty cups = free pint!:D Or closing time on sunday, got €45 for them!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,604 ✭✭✭xOxSinéadxOx

last year was great. no muck, only day of sun in the whole summer, I didn't experience anything scumbaggy at all. and the cups were great! :D
