    Frankly if you have nothing to hide I wouldn't worry about it. I find the following works quite well.
    G: Hello sir where are you coming from going to.
    M: Dublin to Cork, Can you ask that (smiling friendly like)
    G: em, well emm Carry on sir.

    Works all the time.

    It does astonish me sometimes the lack of knowledge some garda possess.
