    Hi all,

Ill be looking into joining up spinning classes when I return to Limerick in August.

Who here does these and how have you found them?

From what Ive heard they're pretty intense but benefit highly. Would you agree and in what way have you felt the benefits?

    Hey there OP

Yes Spinning classes are an excellent way to get in shape. It's low impact on the joints and a mixture of sprints, hill climbs and endurance rides form a typical class. It is also great as you can take it at you own level. The resistance on the bike is completley up to you. You do not always have to keep turning it up/dpwn when the instructer says so if you would prefer not to.

You should make spinning part of an overall fitness regime imo if you want to shape up.

Anyway classes in Limerick are at the followong:

UL (pay as you go classes)
    Monday (6.15pm)
    Tuesday (7.15am , 10.30am)
    Wednesday (1.05pm , 6.15pm , 8.00pm)
    Thursday (7.15am , 5.30pm , 7.30pm)

    JJB (members only)
    Monday (1.10pm , 5.30 and 6.15pm)
    Tuesday (6.30am, half 5 and 6.15pm)
    Wednesday (Same as Monday)
    Thursday (Same as Tuesday)
    Friday (1.10pm and 5.45pm)
    Saturday (9am)

Those are the big 2 clubs anyway. I know Dave Sheahons Gym offer a class or 2 daily at pay as you go also but bikes are limited to ten so get there early. not sure of the times though.

    Hope this helps

Yes, Spinning can help you achieve various goals... including weight management, building your fitness level, enhancing performance... what's your goal?

With a good instructor they can help you get there... someone who undertands the Spinning program and is trained properly. The key to bear in mind is that you are in charge of the intensity... a good instructor will work with you on this and enable you to enhance it as you progress... from pedal stroke, to managing heart rate and exertion, to how they visualise your journey session, etc...

So for Limerick i'd suggest you check out this leisure venue in the Maldron Hotel (was the Quality Hotel):

Any other Qs don't hesitate to ask...

    Thanks for that lads.

@ulstudent, as im in UL those classes would be perfect. Are they free if you're a member by the way? On a slightly OT point if you could pm a link to the other classes which UL actually do that would be mint.

@dubfit.....goal is just to get back in shape for starters, diet is getting a good reform soon too, slacked off on the fitness the last year or so to be honest so time to get a good kick up the hole.
