Was going to make a similar thread. Had six bottles last night watching the match and ended up coming home because it was so bad. Just pure liquid coming out.

Bulmers pear is a far nicer drink after you shake it to get rid of the excess fizz.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,230 ✭✭✭chem

Folks not messing ........this stuff should be on pe(a)rcription only. The stomach was like a bubble machine gone nuts. After the 3rd  pint it was like pulling the pin on a grenade. Only 10 seconds to get rid of it:o Is it an evil joke by Bulmers R&D department?

I tried it for the first time last night also. Only had the one can though. No side effects for me. Nothing worse than usual anyway.

Your pears must not have been ripe.

Have not tried it yet have been drinking koppenberger for a while though and I imagine bulmers will taste good

My side effect on cider is I get massive thirst in the morning, wake up with furry mouth ( Your ma before you say it):D

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 71 ✭✭mewmoo

Haven't had it yet, but most cider makes me take more trips to the bathroom than beer would.

If you've been drinking koppenberger for a while do try the Bulmers, it takes like crap and you'll have a horrible fake pear taste in your mouth the next day on top of your hangover.

I'd prefer the runs than what you get after a night on Guinness.
My life was never the same after the first big black.

Just because YOU don't want to know doesn't mean no one wants to know.

I found it a very informative and interesting post tbh.

Guinness. A very efficient laxative for me. And disgusting stuff too, like beer dregs.

Yeah, first time I had it I had 4 cans, and things were running free by the end of the night.

Seems like this is a common problem.

No side effects for me and it's been my regular drink since it has basically come out.

    On an unrelated but related note, when it first came out, my brother had the following exchange with a barman in a certain nightclub;

Brother: Do you sell Bulmers Pear?

    Barman: What?

    Brother: Bulmers Pear Cider.

Barman: Sorry we don't sell gay drinks.

Brother: Ah c'mon that's an out and out lie, what about the multiple fridges full of WKD so?

    Barman: *laughs in defeat*

    :pac:

Coffee usually does the trick for me. One cup and the inside of the toilet bowl looks like the top of a McDonalds chocolate sundae.

I tried it in England a few weeks back.

Not impressed. A bit tasteless and not much to differentiate from apple cidar. Not as fizzy and just a tad sweeter. I might as well have been drinking normal apple cidar.

It's a perry not a cider...actually its probably just an alcho-pop like kopparberg.

anyway bulmers in awful muck... 4.5%? **** off.

I too have "pissed out my arse" after the Pear Bulmers. It only dawned on me the second time/night that it was the drink. And then I drank it again the third time.

Its tasty. Way nicer than Kopparberg.

Next time you have bad diarrhoea, I mean the totally watery stuff.

Swallow a few spoonfuls of sweetcorn without chewing them at all.

It doesn't help at all, but your body doesn't digest them so they pop out whole.

Feels funny, looks funny, is funny.

I wouldn't dream of it madam.

But I do enjoy cider (I do work, but not yet homeless:p) and Bulmers is the second worst cider i have ever tasted (the worst being Frosty Jacks) and I am constantly astonished by the thousands of seemingly normal intelligent people I see drinking it every week.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,555 ✭✭✭✭AckwelFoley

I have been told by hardend drinkers that have tried it that its best to drink while sitting on the pot.

light may not pass through you but the sh!t will. Enbrace the pear. Embrace the jax

Is "Bulmers Pear Cider" not just Ritz re-packaged to get blokes to drink it?
