What a terrible boyfriend, I never get caught :pac:

Honestly, masturbation is a part of any relationship. Is it that he was masturbating or looking at porn of both that has upset you?

Well you know, he hasn't done anything wrong so there's no reason why he shouldn't sleep soundly.

    Like I will later.

Hopefully. You don't have to like porn itself but there's no reason to be angry at your boyfriend for looking at it, everybody does that.

TBH, the only bit of that which I would feel you're right to be upset about is the fact that you were sick, and it would have been nice if he was keeping you company or cheering you up.

But then, I'm a man! :pac:

Being quite blunt with you, Mrs JD, as you were yourself, lads ****. Most of us do it regularly. Most of us will watch a bit of porn too.

It has about as much relevance to our relationship with or our feelings for our other half as cutting our toenails when they get too long and start to annoy us ... i.e. it's a way of relieving an itch. It destresses us / helps us sleep.

I'm sorry you're feeling upset about this, but take it from a guy who has often been where your bf was tonight ... this was not an insult to you, or a negative comment on your relationship.

He was just scratching an itch! :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,509 ✭✭✭✭randylonghorn

In fairness, you should be feeling very proud of him for being sensitive enough not to bother you with his needs when he knows you are sick and the last thing you need is his big rubber ducky waving at you.
Lol, that did strike me, but I'm not sure Mrs JD is quite ready to view it from that perspective! :D

That's usually the first reaction the first time a woman encounters her fella exercising the wrist.

It's one of those bits about how women think that we men just can't get our heads around. To us, it's a bit like having a gf screaming at us because we took a shower before bed or brushed our teeth! :pac:

And obviously the lack of comprehension goes the other way too ... i.e. women find it hard to understand how we think about it as well (truth is, we don't even think about at it all half the time, any more than we think about the shower or the teeth!)

99% of men watch porn, the other 1% are liars*

    *most statistics are 50% unreliable

Look at it like this; an occasional flick'o the bean doesn't necessarily reflect on how you feel about your boyfriend... does it?

So, let's face it; its not like a five-knuckle-shuffle is exactly the crime of the century... It has no bearing on his attraction to you, and in honesty, given half a chance, in less than 10 minutes he will gladly hop into that sick bed and go hammer & thongs with you.

If you feel up to it, why don't you slip into your best quick-release gear, go into where your boyfriend is sleeping and give him a practical demonstration how the real thing is so much better than a picture of some eastern european minx in the buff.

Note: Catching their boyfriend knocking out a hand-shandy is enough to butter the parsnips of some girls...

It isn't an insult to you or your relationship it's completely separate.

Guys in relationships **** too, us women need to accept that, its got nothing to do with how the relationship is going.

Hope you feel better soon and when you do watch the porn with him. :D

can i honestly say i'd be upset? no. just because it would be hypocritical.

now i see that maybe its a little upsetting since you're sick in bed and maybe wanted his help and he's too busy with himself. i'd have to be pretty sick before i'd get upset over it mainly because i'd have to feel sick enough to need him and have him disappoint me by not being there if i really needed him.

in one way i may see it as considerate, if i'm there and he's horny then i expect me to be the first pit stop not porn. if i'm sick and instead of pestering me if i'm not feeling it, porn is a more thoughtful option :D

now i'm not saying i would like to walk in on it, its a private thing unless its foreplay lol.

don't women **** while in relationships too? i mean honestly porn is just a tool. now if there was a shrine to sasha gray found in my bfs cupboard thats a different story but the odd **** watching porn? forget about it, its mainly habit.

porn means nothing. its fantasy nothing more.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,262 ✭✭✭✭Joey the lips

I think wha gets most women here is the fact that the bloke is watching porn on his own. This is the general feeling i got between jokes in a pub one night and its what my o/h says. I would think of it another way

He knows your sick did not want to bother you for a go and decided to sort himself out!

If you caught him in the shower doing this would it have been as bad? I think its the porn. Becuase as I said you not watching it together. TBH as a man I think differently than my o/h on this, she would feel we should be watching it together but I dont think of it the same way she would.

Sorry your sick I dont think he has done anything bar the porn watching on his own and I dont have a problem with that myself

    But then I am a man! ( i think :D)

Relax! All guys do it. If he wasn't looking at porn while jerking off he'd use his imagination instead. You just happened to catch him. At the end of the day, he's not cheating. Men have raging sex drives that need to be fulfilled. You know how women can get moody at that time of the month? We would too if we didn't polish the rocket every so often!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 37,485 ✭✭✭✭Khannie

Porn and relationships are entirely separate things. I don't really understand what you're upset about (genuinely). Is it that you consider the masturbation to be a reflection of his affection for you in some way? Does it bother you that he was looking at other naked wimmins and you consider that he wants to be with them or something?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 711 ✭✭✭battser

I have to agree. From a blokes perspective its just an "itch" waiting to be scratched and doesnt reflect badly in anyway to your other half. I had a GF a few years back who couldnt stand if I had a ****. I had to do it secretly!!! Dont make us do that!!! haha

Disgraceful behavior on his part. At least get a perspex keyboard shield*

*Unless he was doing it into a sock, or even better still, engaging in a "posh (+ prophylactic) ****", in which case, you should just disregard the above comment.

I don't get what you're upset about, and I'm a girl. Are you upset because you're insecure in some way and him looking at the typical looking porn girl makes you feel worse about yourself? Are you jealous because he's attracted to other women? Are you just repulsed by the idea of porn itself?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 172 ✭✭Mrs JackDaniels

    All of the above

    All of the above

Did you not think he looked at porn before though?! You're a bit naive, if so...

I can get how if you were sick it would irritate you, everything irritates you when you're sick... but I actually reckon he was probably being considerate by not annoying you for sex when you clearly weren't in the mood.

What do you expect him to do? Not masturbate? Or just not watch porn? Because both of these are kind of unreasonable.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,150 ✭✭✭LivingDeadGirl

Perhaps I'm biased because I watch porn myself, but I just don't subscribe to that kind of thinking. As someone said, its scratching an itch. He won't even remember what the girl looks like in half an hour, and anyway, he's with you.
The jealousy thing, yeah it can be annoying to think about your OH fancying other people but its natural, I'm sure you're attracted to other people too. You can't get annoyed with him over that unless you've never fancied anyone in your life bar him, and even then it would just be an incredibly rare occurrance that he doesn't have to mirror to be a good boyfriend.
Porn industry, yeah fair enough if you don't like it, not everyone does, but those are your personal views and you can't enforce them on other people. If it really bothers you then just get him to be more discreet in future, but he does have the right to **** and watch porn if he wants to.
Only advice I can give you as I'm not an expert by any means is to just try and accept it, there are some things we just have to accept about our partners and I think this is one of them. Try and come to some sort of agreement/compromise that suits you both. Good luck. :)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,185 ✭✭✭tatabubbly

I think your over reacting here, most men do it.. further more if you've only caught him doing it once, while you were sick, do you not think your over reacting??

Most "ladies" in those sort of films are plastic and men don't really fancy them, it's more what they are doing if you get my drift...

You would be more angry at him if he was pestering you for the deed when you were sick..

Just wanna ask a (kinda) related question...

Ok we've come to the conclusion that men **** and watch porn in a relationship, both of which are ok.

What I wanna know is do people agree with me that spending like €100 a month on those dirty text lines (when u have a perfectly good gf whose both willing and able) is crossing the line?

I think the line is similar to the difference between a kink and a fetish?

A kink is using a feather to tickle your partner, a fetish is using a chicken

Personally I think men get turned on a lot easier than women, its not like he wants to be with other women he just wants to look at boobs. My boyf looks at porn if i'm gone for the night and I don't think I'd be pissed if he did it when I was sick. Obviously he wouldn't be getting any from me... Just think of it as blowing off steam...

Look, I don't really wanna get too involved in this. I was really just read it because it was about porn.

But, if it's any consolation, I see why you're upset. Sure, guys knock one off all the time. But, at the end of the day you've realised your boyfriend was getting his sexual kicks from other women.

Now, as blokes, the rest of us can say that says nothing about his feelings for you. But, as a girl, that can be hard to understand. A bit like how I don't really get how some girls need love and rosepetals and all the bollacks before they can have an orgasm.

I don't really have a point to make. I'm just saying that I think some people are making you out to be a bit of a nutcase. But I do understand where you're coming from, if that helps. I also think a lot more girls feel the same way, than would admit here. I once got a total bollocking off a gf when she asked if I ever wanked. She went postal when i said I did sometimes.

In fairness she asked the question, she wanted an answer and the answer was a resounding negative. She accepted that she was pissed for no major reason and seems to have gotten over it.

I would think that the only thing she should be offended by her BF watching Pron is if it is something illegal or immoral. OR if the "actress" looks like a younger version of herself.

Other than that pron is just a catalyst for the release basically. (That sounds disgusting doesn't it!!! Sorry.):o
