Alright limbo people ;) One of the lads in the Reserve Thread found this earlier

    Article

Towards the end it talks about a Garda spokes man talking about an October intake.

More good news! :) Thanks I'm Listening! Might not be set in stone but good to see the rumours being positive for a change. Yet another glimmer of hope :D

hey guys, anyone been on to HQ lately.
jobless from tomorrow and still praying for august, prob a long shot at this stage although when i was on to HQ last week they said they wont know for def till mid july and sometimes only find out the day before the intake.
He also said they're pushing all the way for an intake at some stage this year.

I've set a deadline for myself, Mid July. If there's no word of an intake, time to face the facts and do other things and forget about the process for a year or two!

No point putting everything on hold. ;)

Never put anything on hold while waiting for your application to be processed. Do whatever you had planned and if a position comes up, take it.

    O I know,

I mean like travel and stuff, just finished college and couldn't plan a long trip away encase a call came for August. Which would mean cutting a holiday short and probably coming back broke!

Ah see what happens I guess

You kind of have to put your life on hold though. Like, I cant move in with my boyfriend coz if and when I go to Templemore he wont be able to afford rent on his own, so what do we do? Wait for 2 (or more maybe) years to move in together? Then when do we get married and start having babies? Thats gonna be prob 4 years coz i cant go to Templemore pregnant or worse, leave a newborn for the week! I just started a new job and have to sign a contract next wk. I kinda feel like im getting further away from it..

Whatever you do, don't let the boyfriend see this, you'll probably scare him :D

Fingers crossed, we get news soon, anything will do, even saying no more intakes for a year or two will do (will be disappointing tho) but least we know where we stand

With all due respect, did these things not occur to you before you applied? Even if you are accepted and pass out of Templemore, do you think getting married and having children will be easy when working on a Garda's roster?

Blue Belle, you either want it as a career for life or not. Like having children and a husband, being a Garda is something that you will have forever, in a sense because they say Gardai never really retire! So, if it is a job you want for your future, you'll continue waiting or go through it again to get it.. just like having kids.

Don't let the doubt creep in. Keep it shut out of your mind. You've waited this long, wait some more. If you can't see yourself ever in another line of work/career path.. you'll stick with it.

I'm waiting the last 7 years to just apply. Don't take the position your in for granted.

:-D He's complaining about it more than I am! He's very supportive but its fair to say that being in the system definitely has a huge impact on your life from planning holidays to planning your whole life really.. That said I saw 2 female guards pass by in DunLaoghaire earlier and such a pang of envy overcame me so its definitely what I want, I'd just like to know when!

I know what youre saying eroo, and I'm not saying I regret my decision. Far from it. Im just replying to the Nog saying not to let it affect your life. It does end of. And being a Garda does not mean you cant live with the person you love! Or get married and have kids! Its just trying to map out your life after your training ends, when you dont know when it is going to begin is very difficult! Thats all. Its just a little rant, theres nothing coming between me and my application ;)

Yes but surely you thought about the training process and the effects it would have on your personal life?

Well keep your rants in here... next time I read you saying ''your better off not in the process'' over in the 'Applying..' thread.. yer getting a smack across the arse!;):p

No I'll look on until I get my chance to apply. If you can't stand the waiting, then let someone else have a turn. If it is the career you want so very very much.. waiting will not be an issue. You can look at it like this.. or you can look on it as a barrier to going on holidays, personal developments etc.

I don't wish to appear arrogant about something I'm not going through, but you guys and gals don't realise how lucky ye are to have the ball rolling. All through secondary school I just wanted to be a Garda, and I still do. However I will wait as long as it takes as I know it's the career I want.. ye should feel the same way.

    WOW

Ok let me back track a little bit so. If you are making non life changing plans such as taking another job, travelling, going to college then go for it, but if making massive life changing plans such as moving in with Blue Belle, getting married to Blue Belle or having babies with Blue Belle then RUN, FORREST, RUN

Ah stop, You are waving your flag way too high now,

My comments are directed to others in the same situation as me and know the story. Thats why they are posted in the 'stuck in system' thread and waiting thread.

and I don't need advice how to feel. Thanks anyway

I don't care who your comments are directed at. There are quite a few of those who are 'stuck in the system' having little rants in all the threads in this forum. I'm not saying you are one of them.. you may be, you may not. But if they feel it is ok to vent about waiting in the system in the Medical thread, Applying thread, PCT thread or even the Reserve threads then I feel it only right for me to vent in their thread about how it feels to be waiting to simply apply.

Keep your opinions to yourselves rather than post negative comments when someone inquires about joining. I for one am sick of it. I do feel for you all, and I mean that sincerely but don't turn every thread that has something to with the process into a free for all about how the 'system is crap'.

Use this thread to vent, not every thread in the Recruitment forum. It's not fair to those of us waiting or even people simply inquiring about joining. Your not the first to go through the system and you certainly wont be the last(I hope to be in it).

That's my 2c, take it or leave it.

Kid? I'm not a kid. Just because I am 18 years of age, doesn't put you any higher than me.;)

Don't worry, I take very few things to heart, life is too short to do such a thing.

Take a deep breath and exhale. Getting way too carried away now. Your directing your anger at the wrong person GROWN MAN, never once criticized the system.

This is a pointless argument anyway, lets leave it.

Seriously calm down! No one is attacking your beloved system and I don't see no1 putting serious negative comments about joining. You are way over reacting.

It's easy to pick up these posts the wrong as no tone is represented. Maybe in future don't look in the 'stuck in system' and 'waiting' threads, if you feel that bad about it because you are totally ranting about something that doesnt need to be ranted about

Ha ha Nog! Very funny! Il have you know he would be a very lucky man if I agreed! ;) And no life changing decisions are being made, its all hypothetical really but its just one of those things. I think its fair for everyone to remember that your situation in no way lessens what anyone else is going through, whether you'd rather be in their situation or not. But we're all in the same boat really, en route to Templemore and no idea how long its gonna take to get there. :(

I don't personally think he is ranting, on the other hand he is venting as everyone as done at sometime or other yeah.
The wait is along one, I have being there so it can get frustrating.
Being in the system and only applying whatever, remember everyone is in the same postion no one knows anything yet.

Food for thought: you all have to work along side each other one day.
