    Re Joe:
He decides to fake his death to claimon the life insurance and bings Gail in on the plot. He plans to take out his boat and then ditch it somewhere, I think. But he accidently gets hit by something on the boat, falls off and drowns. Unbeknowst to Gail, who thinks that he is only pretending to be dead! I think she is arrested for his murder.

Coronation Street veteran Rita Sullivan will be at the centre of a love triangle plot after she returns to the soap next month, it has been revealed. The Weatherfield shopkeeper, played by actress Barbara Knox, is to compete against Audrey Roberts (Sue Nicholls) for the affections of charming Lewis Archer (Nigel Havers).

It'll be nice to see Rita back. I've missed seeing her knocking back the drinks with Emily. Would have been better though if it were Norris and Mary in the love triangle.

Yeah, where has Rita been? Tbh..I can't see her with Nigel Havers, or Audrey with him for that matter.

Barbara Knox took some time off due to ill health. Rita has supposedly been on a cruise in the meantime.

Makes you wonder about Gail's next husband. He'll have to be a good swimmer, I reckon; both the last two are members of the Gail Platt Sub-Aqua Club.

Jack and Norris are free. Dev also has an eye for the women. Has he had his way with her. And she must be one of a few long serving characters that Ken has not slept with YET....

Jack :D love to see Gail and Connie fighting over him..Ken hasnt slept with Gail yet  has he even had her mother i dont think so. He must have something against that family even though Blanche suspected an interest in Ted at some stage.

    Tyrone is also free....

Tyrone and Gail. No wont happen.

Jason once tried it on with her when he was working for Charlie Stubbs. Maybe he might move in for the kill again.

Lol Jason and Gail. Was that the same time he tried it on with yer one playing Carla when she was in a different role. Talk about one extreme to the other

If he did; poor Tina. Daddy dead so boyfriend goes off with Stepmother. I'm struggling to think of another soap where that has happened recently :D

Dont know if it is the time you mentioned. I do know however it was a time that he and Charlie did a job in a flat/house for a woman. She was walking around in a dressing gown and Charlie Got off with her. He told Jason that women alone at home are mad for flings with handy men. A few days later Gail had a leakey radiheater and while he was fixing it she went up stairs and came down in a dressing gown. Believing what he was told he tried to kiss Gail and hope for the best. She knocked him back. I think it was before he was going out with Sarah-Lou. Todd might be going out with her at the time.

I'd say Liz would give him all right. he was with Bev, Shelleys Mother for a while so she might give another landlady a try.

Himself, Liz and Deirdre would make an interesting trio. Kens affair with Martha hasnt been forgotten yet i'd say.

Loved the Granny fight tonight. Betty is looking very well for 90 i must say. Disappointing turnout for the party though seen as the actress is 90 herself in a few weeks. Where were Ken and Deirdre, Norris, Jack and co.

That other mad biddy, they had her killed off in the mid 80's as Dr Lowthers wife.

Read some place that the 91 year old is going to die soon which will make Betty the Oldest.

Betty in real life is starting to show her age. Cant but help notice she is sitting down behind the bar for many of her scenes now adays and is only cleaning forks and knives and not serving. Long may she reamin in the show. She is without douby one of the most under rated characters in the show.

The Sun reports that, after suffering two miscarriages, Becky McDonald (Katherine Kelly) will be told she has an abnormal womb and will never be able to carry a child for its full term.

After hearing the news Becky blames herself and tells husband Steve (Simon Gregson) that she is being punished for her former life as a drug taker and heavy drinker.

what a pathetic way for him to go.....splashing and crying like a little girl......Corrie could of done so much better, i think that part was badly written. Would of been much more credible for the boom that hit him to knock him unconscious rather than the stupid sore arm and thrashing about...he managed to make it back to the boat, so why did he not head for the dinghy instead?? Not Good! But glad he is gone. Pity he didnt drag Gail under with him!!

Just watching last nights' episodes now. Yeah, 'Phil' is a marvellous drunk, I think he secretly is p*ssed half the time:D.
'Peter', no harm to him is doing well though. The other night during the launch party, he pointed out the barmaid and said 'she...is a marine biologist'.....and the way he said it was sooo typical of drunken bowsey talk:D.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,004 ✭✭✭Ann22

Just watched it. It looked to me like he let go of the boat on purpose, like he'd just given up. Glad to see the back of him too, he was an awful pain in the a*se whinging nuisance:rolleyes:.

For something that has been so hyped up; this Joe and Gail thing tonight was rubbish. The best thing about tonight was didnt have to look at Joe.

I couldn't believe the effortless way in which David 'borrowed' a boat and expertly navigated it to salvage Joe's boat. The tricks you learn on the back streets of Manchester !
He wasn't, however, sharp enough to figure out how to hitch it to the back of the car, until a kindly policeman put him right.

On another topic, Deirdre keeps mentioning her mother's escapades in Portugal - it seems that a storyline to kill off Blanche is being concocted.
This serves no purpose - we all know the actress has passed away. Why go through the motions just to 'tidy up' the loose ends ?

Do you know what would have been a great way for Blanche to die?

    At a funeral.

It had been said loads of times that she loved funerals. She loved gossip, she ADORED scandal, and she got a laugh out of causing trouble.

What better way than to drop dead at someone else's funeral, and freaking the crap out of dozens of people, to steal the show in a sense. :pac:

Corri is filmed up to ten weeks before it is aired. Maggie Jones who played Blanch was out of it about a month before she died in real life. Maybe a trip to Portugal came about in a script change to explain her absence. I am sure that if she was still around should would be playing a pivital role in Peter's return to the drink story.

Nick gets into Kelly's knickers :D
Nick Tilsley is set to get into the knickers of Kelly Crabtree - to get into the knickers business.
The serial womaniser has a fling with the factory girl so he can pick up goss on the skimpies firm that he has his eye on.

And it works - she drops the information that owner Carla Gordon is in dire need of a business partner.

So nasty Nick takes advantage to make a rock-bottom offer for the company.

The conquest of Kelly (Tupele Dorgu) is the latest in a long, long line for the Romeo.

The character, played by Ben Price, returned to the ITV1 soap on Christmas Day and immediately locked lips with little brother David's ex Tina McIntyre (Michelle Keegan).

In the past the character has been married to Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson) and emigrated with Maria Connor (Samia Smith).

Ben, 38, reckons if he keeps going through Corrie's ladies at this pace, he will end with retired newsagent Rita Sullivan.

He said: "Nick started with Tina, then he moved to Kelly. I'm getting through the whole of the Street, I'll be on to Rita by the end of the year!

"But sex isn't a heavy thing with Nick - he's easy come and easy go. He's makes it clear that he takes a girl out but he's not promising them the world."

When he first took the role, which was previously played by Adam Rickitt, Ben had a lot of background reading to do.

The former Footballers' Wives actor said: "I was given a full bible of Nick Tilsley when I started and as you go through episodes and meet new characters it starts to make sense.

"You'll see him bump into Leanne soon. I'm sure stuff will come out of that - there's a story there. But at the moment we're not overplaying it."

While things won't last with Kelly, Ben hopes something will happen between him and factory boss Carla (Alison King) when they get working together.

He said: "A slow burn would be better with Carla. Right now Nick is very good at separating business and pleasure.

"I've got a few more ladies to meander my way through before anything happens there I think."

Coronation Street busybody Norris Cole is to be held captive by admirer Mary Taylor in a dramatic new storyline, it has been revealed.

The plot begins when the newsagent, played by actor Malcolm Hebden, agrees to go on holiday with Mary to a remote cottage near Haworth where the Brontë sisters wrote their novels.

It is believed that crazed Mary (Patti Clare) subsequently sabotages the car and the cottage's phone before turning violent to Norris's horror.

Weatherfield producers are thought to have drawn inspiration from Stephen King's 1988 novel Misery when devising the storyline. The book tells the story of a novelist who is kidnapped by unstable fan Annie Wilkes and subsequently held in a remote location.

Speaking of the plot, a Corrie source told The Mirror: "Mary convinces herself they are reincarnations of Heathcliffe and Cathy and keeps trying to share his bed.

"Norris escapes to a phone box. When Mary arrives he tries to run and hide but falls and sprains his ankle. Mary refuses to take him to hospital and returns him to the cottage telling him, 'The more helpless you are the stronger I get'."

The newspaper reports that Norris later decides to barricade himself in the cottage when he spots Mary in the yard with an axe.

The insider added: "At first viewers will be amused by Norris's plight. But they'll soon realise that Mary is seriously demented."

Lets hope that the last bit of the above comment does not mean the end of Mary to the show as both Mary and Norris are good together. Maybe her mental health problems might only pull them together even more.

Loving granddaughter Tracy shows up at the funeral - and she's back for good. It will be interesting to see how they've come up with a believable tale to eplain her release from prison!

I'd agree with that, I love when Mary has a scene. The whole keeping him captive idea sounds far fetched. I prefer when she's trying to seduce him in that camper van.

Ideally they should get married, sell the Kabin and take over the Rovers. I'm sick of Liz and Steve running that place.

I doubt there would be much drinking there if Norris was in charge. T'would be like when Jack and Vera ran it, a bit far fetched. At least with Liz it looks believeable that she knows how to run the place.

How come we never see Norris give out a pension on the street. How many pensioners is there. Emily, Ken, Rita, Betty.

Which suddenly started floating for some reason

Thats very common in drownings. The tissue starts to decompose and there is a build up of gasses in the body, which causes it to float.

I have to say I find this Gail and Joe thing very tiresome. Why didnt gail stick to the plan and report him missing???

I have to say I disagree. The last 2 weeks is the first time Corrie has been good in about 5 years - Except maybe for a couple of episodes thgere when Tony Gordon went a bit fruity on Roy Cropper!!

Gail didn't stick to the plan because she never agreed with the plan in the first place. Reporting Joe missing, and then him being tracked down by Police could result in him being locked up for insurance fraud!
