    Clarietta wins (9/4).:)

Nice one, do they almost always win when they give a tip with a price under 3/1?

Pity about Raddy el Pauline at Musselburgh just met one better it would seem.

Interesting that both drifted, wonder is that because most people back the PW tips in the morning..

    Clarkey's a non-runner.

I reckon Pricewise is wide of the mark with JJ. I think Duncan is a good thing.

Never underestimate the power of Segal:)
(I also had my doubts on that one too, but luckily enough I had it done!)

Mike has mentioned a few times that the best system is to back blindly because when you pick and choose yourself you can end up missing a nice winner, i always back blindly now..fancied camponologist myself (tipped him up on a different thread earlier) in that race so backed them both and in a forecast so im happy :)

Not that we on this thread need any reminding but john mcCririck hailed tom segal as the greatest tipster out there on at the races today

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 88,968 ✭✭✭✭mike65

Nope, I was expecting him to but nothing today.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 30 Desert Orchid

Mike, is Talayeb for Pricewise or Pricewise Extra?

(I'm only backing PW-E at the moment.)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 88,968 ✭✭✭✭mike65

PW-E (if its midday its Extra, if its before then its Tom Segal)

This weekend’s best Horse Racing tips from Haydock, Newmarket and France

    August 7, 2009
The lull in between Glorious Goodwood and York’s Ebor Meeting might not throw up the best couple of weekend’s racing of the year, but fear not - there are winners a plenty still to be found, here’s the pick of the weekend action.
On Saturday the fillies take centre stage at Newmarket in the Group 3 Sweet Solera Stakes at 3pm. It looks a good renewal too, and the one carrying my cash will be Henry Cecil’s unexposed Chachamaidee, who made a very good impression when third in Royal Ascot’s Albany Stakes last time out.
A Lingfield winner in June on her first ever racecourse spin she’s been brought along in typical unrushed fashion by her master trainer, she’ll love the step up in trip, and can make the frame at the least.
Back her each way at 5/1 with Stan James, not forgetting entries in the Lowther, Fillies’ Mile and Dewhurst pointing the way to greater things on the horizon.
A little later on the same Newmarket card Henry Cecil and Tom Queally can bring up a double with a horse on plenty of punters’ lips in the shape of Manifest in the mile and a half maiden at 4.40pm.
There’s a real buzz around for this horse and it’ll be a surprise if he doesn’t win this.
Personally I’ll be warming up for a day at the cricket at Headingley with the Bulldog on Sunday by paying a visit to Haydock Park. Their opener, a tricky looking 0-100 handicap, looks a decent opening for Mark Johnston’s 86-rated Opus Maximus to score the sixth victory of his career at a handy each way price.
He looks much happier at Chester last time when Johnston opted to step him back up to a mile, and the inteference he suffered early on was forgotten as he made serious inroads late on to grab fourth and a share of the prize money.
£25 Free Bet when you join Ladbrokes to bet on this Weekend’s Racing Action
He won off 82 at Musselburgh in May and I reckon he’s got it in him to win off this mark - don’t forget his form boasts wins at other left handed galloping tracks like Yarmouth and Nottingham, so back him each way at tasty odds to repeat the trick here.
Sticking with the Lancashire venue at 2.40pm look no further than John Gosden’s Duncan in an exciting looking Group 3 Rose Of Lancaster Stakes.
Duncan was done no favours in the Prince Of Wales’s Stakes at the July Meeting last time, they went no gallop early doors and he’d run his race battling Jimmy Fortune for his head by the time the rest set off in earnest.
Forget that and focus on the fact he has a few pounds in hand if you believe the official figures, plus excellent winning efforts at Epsom and Ascot earlier in the year. He then finished fourth in a genuinely thrilling renewal of the Coronation Cup - a reproduction of that display would win this hands down. Get on at 11/4 with Victor Chandler.
Finally on Sunday in Deauville’s Prix Maurice De Gheest keep on the right side of Freddie Head’s Naaqoos.
Last August he made a winning debut over the same course and distance as the Maurice de Gheest in August, 2008, before going on to take the Group One Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere at the Arc Meeting in October.
In two outings this season the Oasis Dream colt went down by a head to the to subsequent Group One Prix du Jockey Club winner Le Havre in a the Listed Prix Djebel at Maisons-Laffitte in April, and was demoted to sixth, having passed the post in third, in the first French Classic of the season, the Group One Poule d’Essai des Poulains (Guineas) at Longchamp.
I fancy him to take this now he drops back in trip to six and a half furlongs, and he can be backed at around 11/2.
    Good luck!
    This weekend’s advice:
    2.10 Haydock (Saturday) - turftv.co.uk Handicap - 10 Opus Maximus (each way) @ 7/1 with Betfred
2.40 Haydock (Saturday) - Totepool Rose Of Lancaster Stakes - 3 Duncan (win) @ 11/4 with Victor Chandler
3.00 Newmarket (Saturday) - skybet.com Sweet Solera Stakes - 5 Chachamaidee (each way) @ 5/1 with Stan James
4.40 Newmarket (Saturday) - Royal British Legion Poppy Maiden Stakes - 5 Manifest (win)
Deauville (Sunday) - Prix Maurice de Gheest - Naqoos (win)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 88,968 ✭✭✭✭mike65

And wtf has the above got to do with Pricewise and the Racing post?
2.10 Haydock (Saturday) Opus Maximus (each way) @ 7/1 with Betfred
2.40 Haydock (Saturday) Duncan (win) @ 11/4 with Victor Chandler
3.00 Newmarket (Saturday) Chachamaidee (each way) @ 5/1 with Stan James
    4.40 Newmarket (Saturday) Manifest (win)

one winner 4/7, one placed 11/4 from 4. Not that great anyway!
