I'd have no qualms about spending thousands on decent equipment. IMO home gym equipment is one of the best investments that someone can make -you're investing in your health. Just so long as as the equipment doesn't sit there gathering dust. Very often when someone half heartedly spends 200 quid on a cheap crappy tread mill from Argos they will abandon it within a year.

Not bad for €390.... Power Rack

    and for €184.... Bench

    for €134... 7' Bar

    €348... Weights

That's me set up for €1056!!

€55 a month on finance.... I'm sooooo tempted....... That's €10 more than I'm paying in the gym, and the equipment will be mine!!

A dip station, or did you get attachments with the cage? I also use gymnastic rings which can over a chinup bar.

also check www.irish-lifting.com he might match prices, worth asking, the owner is a member here and was saying his prices might be dropping soon, as the price of steel is probably going to drop in China.

To be honest i have spoken to Irish-Lifting before. He is cheap for Ireland, But he wasnt willing to come down much. I got everything from them over in the UK for a nice price.

My power cage has all the attachments and the 90kg weight stack, So i am set.

In all i will have 350KG Rubber plates by the time i am finish at easy 50% what it would cost me over here.

That's a good deal, but there's a 180kg limit on the cage, so you'll eventually have to upgrade to a stronger cage.

This is the one to get

My order started out with that. But grow to what i have now. Thats the cage i have and its great. It will be a very long time before you would need to upgrade. i had 220kg on it and it was not going anywhere.

( I didnt lift the 220kg i just wanted to see how stronge it was : )

Nice one! Is the bar rated at 700lb or 1000lb? Did they supply the rubber plates or iron ones?

"I had to drop 20kg off my squats(110kg5x5) But it felt ok. I wil build it backup slow. Cant rip it again"

but then you say that you have only been lifting a few weeks before your injury.

4 weeks is a short time to start lifting and then get up to 130kg5x5:confused:

I went over this before when i started back at the start of the year. I have always been stronge in the legs but weak up top. My max bench is 92kgx1.

I dont know what my max 1 rep squat is to be honest.

    My body weight is 95kg.

maybe the lifting was the reason my MCL was weak.

On a side note. I was speaking to Laura today and asked her if she would do a boards.ie discount for members. She said if people contact her directly and tell her what you want. Look at the site and send her links, She will look after you.

I just want to say, I have nothing to do with powerhouse i am just a very and i mean very happy customer:D

Check out the buy and sell for mirrors, I got some for my garage dirt cheap out of a ladies gym that was closing.

I bought the power rack for 349 from irishlifting.com and am very happy with it, I got free delivery and they threw in free dip bars and a dip belt. In fairness at 70kg it is heavier than even the heavy power rack from powerhouse and the one you bought weighting in at 46kg would not inspire me with confidence... Was the shipping expensive btw caus I need a set of dumbells, changing over the dumbell handles are a pain in the arse...

I have been e-mailing Laura. She said she'd give me free delivery and she'll throw in the rubber weights instead of the cast iron ones. I'm waiting for her to come back to me and what conversion rate they are using for GB£ to euros. I might chance me arm for parity!!

The power rack i have is 80kg. and can hold alot of weight. I have put 250Kg of weight so far just to test and no problems. I also got the Lat/low pull and weight stack. Plus free shipment. and some other stuff thrown in.

Laura will look after you, Trust me.

Sorry you weren't happy with my prices Blazher, I buy my stuff from newyorkbarbells and I do the best I can on price. I would say it is not exactly comparing like with like, my racks are rated to 450kg. There is a massive difference between putting 250kg on the bar and not doing anything with it and dumping a heavy failed squat on the safeties, that would be interesting. Also doesn't help that you have to pay 50% more vat to our government than in the UK but thats Ireland...

mickk your hummer wasnt in TF sandyford a while ago was it? the beige one?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,001 ✭✭✭Mickk

Also I would say you will have trouble bench pressing in that rack because of the lat pulldown and low row attachment. The bench wont go far enough back into the rack and they havn't made any holes on the front of the rack so you cant do it out there either. The only option is to take it off the inside of the front but that just feels wrong...

Cardio, shootme no I did used to train in TF sandyford but mine is black and covered in the irish lifting logos, you would know it's me.

Mickk, I think you have your wires crossed, I never said one bad thing about you or Irish-Lifting just that i got a better deal off Laura.

As for the cage, I am more then happy with it. And it will do me for a long time. If i had 450KG of weight i would test it. But from the fact that when i had 250kg it didnt move or feel like it was under stress.

You can bench off the cage. Because of the weight stack at the back you can bench off the front. Also you can set it up so if you failed a lift you would have no fear of dumpping it. because you can adjust the side bars to suit. But i got the bench for a good price and thought why not.

Also i know you do your best. You are the cheapest in Ireland, But i just feel i got a better deal over the water. Nothing personal. So dont take it that way.

I know you didn't say anything bad about it, sorry if it came across like I was taking it personally. I know people will go where ever is the best value, my point is just that the cheapest isn't always the best value... I looked at different cheaper racks and brands but decided that NYB offered the best overall value, I think when you are buying a once off purchase that you will use for life spending a bit extra for heavier gauge steel is worth it.
