Fully automated flying cars. In the future your kids will just push a button to go to school in your flying car and the bloody thing will come back home on its own. If you're over 35 you probably won't live to see it though.

Eugenics under the form of systematic (but non mandatory) genetic screening of foetuses for genetic or developmental defects.

Non-physical screens on handheld devices, i.e. immaterial hologram like cell phone screens, so there's more room for the rest on your devices (like a keyboard). Sooner (within 10-15 years), micro projectors in cell phones.

I doubt anyone will get brain implants, actually I can totally see devices that use brain waves and what not. Currently being developed but it's hardly really usable right now.

Diseases like cancer being trivially cured by killing the bad cells one by one with a radio death ray of sorts. Also genetically engineered viruses of sorts to treats all kinds of stuff, but mostly cancer.

CCTV cameras in every home, being used in trials only on judge requests as evidence for all the ****load of kinds of crimes that are committed in people's houses.

Still nothing as gloom, dark and oppressive as the stream of dystopian vomit that science fiction writers of all ages have produced.

No more homeless people in Europe and North America, even the poorest of the poor have a flat with access to the Internet.

No one on the Moon or Mars, people stopped giving a **** about that sort of ****.

Most people will regularly and indifferently listen to music from the 1960s to music from the then-present.

No one uses dry paper anymore to wipe their bottom, but rather fancy stuff than cleans you and makes it smell like roses in one wipe.

    Non-cancerous tobacco.

A fad involving non-luminescent screen-like clothes that can display moving stuff.

Social advances and such you're not even seeing coming, like sibblings getting married or babies made from two lesbian ovulas.

Bumpy screens, that is regular screens except their surface changes in shape.

In 30-40 years kids don't give a **** about the environment anymore cause anything that had to be done would have been done by then.

Technological, medical and neurological advances make people explore unsuspected possibilities with their brain.

Doctors and stuff regrow you new organs on demand (well, when necessary) in vitro. Transfusion blood becomes mass produced.

A new fad involving genetically engineered pets.

Only old people own a TV, anyone else uses their computer.

Although sheldon's theory is slightly flawed because the law of conservation of energy/matter says matter cannot be created/destroyed....:o

i dont have a problem with that , over time the individual atoms that make make a person up are replaced as cells die.

A belief in gender identity involves a level of faith as there is nothing tangible to prove its existence which, as something divorced from the physical body, is similar to the idea of a soul. - Colette Colfer

The more free energy and cheaper things we get the more "they" will find a ways to tax us on things like our own ass gas but then someone will invent a catolithic converter butplug or something then they will try tax us on something crazy like daylight or moonlight and finally everyone will grow some balls and say "NOOOO ! enough ,we are all doing very well on this spinning ball of dirt ,lets have a tea party" and we live happily ever after....yep

Hoverboards like in Back to the Future.....I want me one of them!

The depressing thought is that the 'future' from back to the future II is less than 6 years away (2015) and we don't even look close to most of the gear featured in the movie (AND that movie had been deliberately conservative in it's technological predicitions! ).

Sure, but on the other hand, look at all we have that wasn't in the movie, the Internet... and errr... well that's already quite important!

I'm amazed by how radically the unfolding of times keep defying prediction. Everytime people try to predict what's gonna come up in at least ten years, they're so far off track it's not even funny. For example, 50 years ago they thought that by now we'd have flying cars and go buy our groceries in orbit or something. Instead, we have an ubiquitous world wide network concentrating more knowledge than any single library ever and devices in our pockets that tell us very precisely where we are on planet Earth and allow us to film. We have devices that do wireless telephone + geolocalisation device + filmless photographic camera + filmess video camera + jukebox + television + self luminous photographic album + calculator + clock + chronometer + general purpose computing and telecommunication device, in your pocket, seriously, who saw that coming?

My point is, what we predict is futile, what happens really is unforeseen (unless you're one bloody hell of a visionary genius) and awesome, and is what we really need. That's what's interesting about the future as it unfolds, no one can tell where we're going because where we're going is kind of unthinkable.

I've been working on this android bulter thing for a while, just trying to get the AI working properly, came up with a great name for it as well, Cybernetic Lifeform Node.

Not very catchy but I could probably shorten it to something else.
