I recently joined a gym to lose some weight. I've been working out the last 2 weeks, i tried a spin class the other night which was 45 mins. I was a little exhausted and in a ball of sweat after but felt great.

Is there anyone out there that would know if a spin class is a better way to lose weight? I hope to use the gym 4 days a week as a iplay sports two other days. All advise appreciated.

yes, it certainly can... check out this thread...

Is spinning good for weight loss?

if you are with a (Madd Dog / Johnny G) Spinning Instructor they can sit with you and expalin about how to bring heart rate zones into play and the benefit of 'Endurance' rides for weight management (loss)... if you aren't you can still check out the information on spinning.com in the Instructors / Handouts section...

    enjoy!

I find spin classes an excellent way to get fit and lose weight - I lost almost 60 pounds and I owe it mainly to spin classes (as well as real-life cycling and running)

For me, it's much easier to get pushed by someone else than it is to push yourself. My Heart Rates are usually 160-175 during them, spiking up to about 180 during sprints. It is very tough while doing it and you sweat a lot, but afterwards you feel really good.
