    Following on from my 'Randy Marsh Appreciation Thread'.

    I've decided to rull a poll to see who the most popular South Park character is.

    Personally I don't see how it could be anyone other than Eric Cartman.
    I'd give second place to Randy with Butters a close third.

    I've included 7 options to try to include the main characters.

    Butters. He's always worth a giggle. Especially as his alterego, Professor Chaos. After this, Cartman and Randy are joint second. Can't pick either over the other. The rest have lost their sparkle to me lately.

    I overlooked Jimmy somewhat, he is one of the best extras.

    He's still no Butters though IMO.
    It's not too often a show introduces a character later on,
    such as Butters and makes them so popular.

    Cartman and Butters are outstanding as a double act...

    Cartman.

    The show wouldn't be where it is today without his character.

    Randy has only been put to the forefront in the last few series.

    Has to be Randy, especially in the last few seasons he has been very good. Butters is quality too.

    I find Mr/Ms Garrison a tad disturbing.
    The Police Chief is quality though.

    I love this bit from 'Miss Teacher Bangs A Boy' (another Classic Cartman/Dawg episode)...

    Although Rob Schneider and chefs parents should be mentioned as the best characters to have only been in 1 or 2 eps

    I would agree with most that has been said - it would be hard to look past Cartman as the best character, but any episode in which Randy features heavily is usually gold (even if the story premise is slightly weak Randy can save the episode).

    Armin Tanzarian - how about starting a poll for best 'extra', who don't appear all that often? I'd agree with a lot of the shouts for Jimmy, quality character.

    But think my vote would go to Butters' dad I think hes brilliant whenever he's on!

    The Extras Poll would be interesting but there'd be so many to include.
    I think I'll give it a miss but why not stick one up yourself?

    Randy is solid gold but I think that Cartman is still in a league of his own.
    As brilliant as Randy is he is a pretty one-dimensional character.
    Cartman has a massive range in comparison.

    Butter's dad is funny too but do you not think he's very limited.
    Most of the time he's just grounding Butters.

    Butters is absolutely class, a very close second to Randy IMO.
    As another poster mentioned, Jimmy's also an excellent character.

    If I had to say right now, I'd probably put my all time favourite episode as being 'The Losing Edge' so that says alot for Randy (although I haven't actually seen 'The Coon' yet).

    I've totally missed the boat when it comes to Randy. Yeah he's funnier now but the funniest character?! :confused: My boyfriend loves him too, I don't get it. It'll always be Cartman for me, Southpark wouldn't be what it is today without him.

    I love Towelie too though :D

    I voted for Randy too,

    I think because he is an adult, he has more scope for getting into funny situations than the kids can.
    Kinda like the way the Simpsons is really only about Homer.
