    Whatever the education or certification, the bottom line is people are hired on the understanding they have the ability to learn and have made the effort to learn. This is shown with certs and/or college degree.

    Its all about experience..

    What is a cert.. proof that at a certain time on a certain day you provided enough correct information to pass the exam. Thats it. It doesnt define that you knew anything more than you were asked.

    Degree, to a lesser extent. Grade curves etc etc who knows and its a one where you can bolster bad results with good ones. But its prrof that you can learn and its a longer slog. All degrees are not created equal unfortunately. Sad but true.

    All have merits all have bad points.

    If either or both are backed up by experience then its better. A cert without experience is no better than a degree without experience. You are still in the same boat, trying to explain that you will only get better.
