With threads like 'What are you cutting back on?', 'Emergency budgets', 'Store closures' and R word threads, tax exiles, the dole, up to your eyes in debt etc, have you curtailed your spending recently?
(recently as when you last were spending without a bother in the world whether that money was borrowed or saved!)

Who here has been cutting back their spending habits recently for any reason particular?
Of course, some will have more money and a job more than the unfortunate others who have lost their jobs as unemployment has doubled in the last year, it will be interesting to see who in AH has been doing their own mini-budgets to reign in spending!

Me? Just the usual budgeting for endless years without living on credit :p:D

I could buy 2 packs of rich tea for a euro, if I travel to the north and go to Asda, I might just squeeze in 4 packets for my euro :D

I quite fancy a bottle of Amarone i saw for 80 euro. never drank one that expensive, tempted.:)

(I'd have to find the 80 euro first, and then pretend it was under a tenner.)

Saving like mad at the moment and we've stashed quite a bit away.
However, it's all going on our wedding in a few months. So saving .... but it'll all be spent.

Once it's over.... back to saving again.

Mars bars? Excuse me, Mr la di da.

For me it's a bag of salt and vinegar Tayto. Stings, but it's cheaper than a babbie.

They are lovely when you squeeze two together and the butter escapes up through the holes.

    This recessions's a bitch.

For some reason my wages get smaller every month. I'm still managing to balance things alright, but there's not much room for error.

I curtailed my spending before the recession as I had to. Wasting too much money on things like gym for a 3 month member only went in twice. Things like that. I just felt the need to spend on something every week as I was bored.

Can't say I'm worried about being let go at all tbh so still the usual lifestyle for me.

I'm lucky in that if I did lose my job all it would mean is no more luxuries (nights out, etc.) so I don't need to save money for that. atm all I'm saving for is 3 weeks in the US in 3 months time.

Used to never do a weekly shop, I'd pop into the local M&S and shop for each meal separately, spontaneously buying everything from fancy loo roll, scented bags for the bedroom waste paper bin to fresh Cherrys that would cost around €7 for a small tub!!! How bloody silly was I!!! Now even though the same income is coming into our home I am much much less frivilous, our weekly fruit bill is now around the same price I used to pay for the Cherry's :D as they say you live and learn and this is one positive thing that has come of this recession, I now stick to a budget and do the rounds of Superquinn, Tesco, Supervalu etc to get the best bargains. I realise that I'm lucky to live where I live as all these supermarkets are within 5 mins so it's viable to source the value items each week, it also gives me a sense of self achievement to keep within a budget and even though my peers and I are in our early 30s we find ourselves comparing our bargings every week :D

probably spending more tbh. got myself a pair barker shoes yesterday that i expect to wear almost never. i'm doing my bit to help the economy!

Haven't curtailed rather have become much more prudent, simple things such as, rather than buying a weekly shop,I buy as I need stuff, so spending less and not wasting food. I have started to buy own brands on non food items, quality is no different, just cheaper. If I can get something cheaper from the UK on the net, then I will have already saved over 160 Euro on one transaction.
Have started to look for better deals with things like car insurance etc... shop around more and have made significant savings. Have looked for a better deal on my mobile phone and am saving anything up to 100 Euro a month. I don't leave lights on in rooms I'm not using, my ESB has started to go down. Don't buy Irish newspapers, they are a rip off imo,a good monthly saving.
So really have started to wise up over the last six or seven months and have just become more prudent.
