    What's wrong with that?

Priced high but not a dreamer by a long shot. Tourneos do make a massive premium on standard Connects.

Actually I'v just seen the mileage! :o

What do you think of this?

Apologies if posted already, I looked back through previous posts and didn't see it

    Says it's a 3 door saloon?

Could be a compact, a coupe, a saloon, who knows,

I always think of the e36 as BMWs mk3 Golf.

Definately a short arse, err I mean Compact.
Dash, Doorcards are specific to Compact. :)

Personally think it's about €2k overpriced.... It's a Basic Compact, Who really wants one. Although those engines are bullet proof.

I one read that for a car to be considered a 'classic' it needs to fill a few requirements
    1. That it is 'beautiful' to look at... in the eye of the beholder obviously, but you get my drift.
    2. That it (obviously the model type in question) has some kind of 'sporting' pedigree.
    3. That it should possess at least one 'engineering' milestone. This could range from anything, like being the first model to have wipers to the first to sport radial tyres etc.

Can anyone tell me at least one enduring legacy that the Toyota Tercel has provided ?

It was the grand prize on the quiz show Jeopardy for about 5 years in the late 80s / early 90s.... and it..... Ehhhm...was square

It's got front wheel drive, but the engine isn't transverse.

fwd man that's why its in the dreamer thread

Edit Colm beat me too it.
Engine isn't transverse as many of these were sold with proper 4wd for the us market and mountainous Japanese area's badged as corsa's, windys and corolla II's.
The tercel wagons with 4wd and low range are very cool little cars (red car from breaking bad)
All in in all some models of tercels are sorta cool but none are really valuable a rough blue one in donegal sold for a few hundred about a year ago.

So had Lancia Flavias in 1959, nothing 'innovative' there...

Didn't see anyone claim innovation as the reason :pac:
read my post above as to why it's not transverse

I did... in my post on what a car model should possess in order to give it some sort of credibility as a modern day classic. It's only a bit of fun really, fair play to him if he get's what he's looking for !

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 73,552 ✭✭✭✭colm_mcm

It's provably the most interesting thing about it.

If it's old it's worth money though. It's rare, and a break from all the usual stuff. It's Irish too by the looks of it, so you'd be preserving our heritage rather than the UK's as so many Irish classic car owners are.

Not worth €6k but still worth a few grand I think.

My post relates to how nobody claimed the tercel was innovative.
    Re Price:
he won't get the colour of it but as said a grand or two to the right buyer would be more like
But as I pointed out there are cooler more desirable tercels to be had

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 73,552 ✭✭✭✭colm_mcm

At 2 grand, that would be a huge bargain. It'd be bangernomics with classic tax.
    I reckon it's worth 3.5k

    Brakes €3000
    Ecu €3000
Engine build 10,000 (seamus Dempsey )
    Bucket seats
    Black top engine
    Shoots flames bangs etc (mapped)
    Too much spec to list

Looks like it has self destroy mode built in:D

    €10000 engine build:confused:

Also where are the door handles? Add to that €330 tax on 2.0 engine. Bargain.

I'm really struggling to believe that at no point when he was pumping money into that, did he stop and think "Hold on. This will surely look better in a three door!"
