Honorable mention to John Lithgow too, he plays the over the top sociopathic bad guy to a tee.

He was class in Midnight Run ..

Just between you and me, Nico22 subscribed to Boards.ie not cause he wanted a tagline & a pic of The Boss, but because he wanted asscess to the S & S forum. He was most disapointed to discover no porn links were allowed in there either

Funny People, awful, awful, awful, ****ing AWFUL in every possible way. 2 and half ****ing hours of Seth Rogen and Adam Sandler being twats, unlikeable, unfunny twats. and to top it off it had that human potato sack Jonah Hill also being an unfunny twat, and not to mention it had Judd Apatows wife who ruined Knocked Up every time she was on screen being a bitch in that being an even more unlikeable bitch in this. someone really needs to show Apatow how to use an editing machine, a completely pointell near 15 minute scene at a myspace convention did nothing for the plot but stick some corporate cock swallowing into the movie. I've despised Sandler since Billy Madison, where he played probably the greatest retard in cinema history, and the footage of a young him doing stupid things with his stupid friends just made me hate him more, avoid at all costs

A Film With Me In It, finally, I don't even think it's out on DVD here yet and I wasn't waiting so I got it by other means, and I'm glad I did, I loved it.
    Tragic comedy! :D

How To Lose Friends And Alienate People:

Typical rom-com stuff here. It was ok in some places but as per all rom-com films it's predictable.
It's not an entirely bad way to spend an hour and 40 mins (I think) but having said that it wouldn't be one of my stronger recommendations.
Megan Fox is in it though.... *purrs*

    'Aliens vs Predator: Requiem'

Despite the poncy title, it wasn't as bad as I figured it would be. A pleasant surprise.

It's no 'Citizen Kane', but it ain't half bad either.

Gamer: Woeful tripe of the highest order. I was expecting a cross between Battle Royale and Crank, but got a cross between Crank II and the Condemned

Better than the first but it was so dark you couldnt make out what was going on for most of it

    In the Loop

Funniest movie I have seen in ages. If you liked the kind of dialogue in movies like Swimming with Sharks you will love this.

True, it was dark and the colours were way oversaturated and contrasted terribly, but it didn't seem to affect my enjoyment of the film. Which is strange, because I should have hated it. I also didn't mind 'Alien Vs Predator' either.

Maybe, after the utter farce that was 'Alien Resurrection', I am just happy that nobody has repeated that travesty again. That Joss Whedon crapfest makes the AVP films look like absolute classics.

I saw 2012 the other night and as I expected, it was s***. The script just seemed so lazy. On the plus side, Woody Harrelson played a great character.

I also saw A Clockwork Orange again over the weekend. Amazing.

    Funny People.

I think with out Eminem & Eric Bana in it there would have been no funny bits in this film at all. I like Sandler, and I think seeing him in Reign Over Me, made me like him more as a proper actor, instead of just a comedic actor, but this movie did nothing for me. It just didn't know what kind of movie it wanted to be. Wasn't funny, wasn't serious, got caught in the middle.

Unless your a hardened Rogen/Apathow fan, I would stay clear of it. Not the best.

Watched Cliffhanger on RTE, perfect viewing for a lazy sunday night. Sly Stallone impalling one of the bad guys with a stalactite is one of the most outrageous deaths i've ever seen in a movie.

Honorable mention to John Lithgow too, he plays the over the top sociopathic bad guy to a tee.

i too watched cliffhanger last night , quite possibley the best action movie of the 90,s , an underated near classic

Must watch that one again, he's great in season 4 of Dexter... He's one of my most adored actors actually, but I just can't place why:confused:

    36 Quai des Orfèvres

French policier with Daniel Auteuil and Gérard Depardieu as two senior cops who go to war with each other and a vicious gang of secuity van thieves. Lots of actions, nasty deaths, beatings etc. The only downside was the overly linear ploting which meant it lacked the twist or two that would have lifted it into the top level of cop thrillers. Still worth seeing though.

I'm watching this Ed Byrne movie that's just started on RTE2 called Zemanovaload. Never heard of it before for some reason.

Considering I was trying to recall if Lithgow was in Midnight Run this is the funniest thing I've read all day!

Watched Crash again last night - first time in several years. Not the 2004 Oscar™-winning LA movie about how people all connected, and we should all care for each other, because life is precious. No. I'm talking about David Cronenberg's 1996 movie about car crash fetishists in Toronto:

I saw a guy get hit by a car in Clonskeagh a couple of weeks ago - or, to be accurate, I heard the bang and saw him flying through the air, then he thumped on to the tarmac like a sack of hammers. He wasn't seriously hurt, but it's not the kind of thing I go looking for. So, why did I watch Crash again? It was late, and I was bored.

The scenes that stick in my mind the most are not the sex scenes, which are deliberately cold and passionless. They make cars look alive by comparison, especially the black Lincoln Continental driven by Vaughan (Elias Koteas). This is the same model President Kennedy was sitting in when he was assassinated.
"Do you see Kennedy's assassination as a special kind of car crash?"
    "The case could be made."
In Vaughan's hands, the car is a zombie: dead and yet alive. Just like Vaughan, in a sense. He bounces it off guard rails for fun, while the steering has about half a turn of play; it roars and grunts like a rhino. Vaughan picks up hookers and has Ballard (James Spader) drive around Toronto while he's banging them in the back seat. Sex and Death: where do we draw the line - if there is a line? Other cars (and people) might as well not be there at all - unless he decides to go after one, and when that happens ... Crash.

From out there on the moon, international politics look so petty. You want to grab a politician by the scruff of the neck and drag him a quarter of a million miles out and say, ‘Look at that, you son of a bitch’.

    — Edgar Mitchell, Apollo 14 Astronaut

    Harry Brown:

Saw this last night. Was just fantastic really. Incredibly dark and graphic. A really good insight into London's dark underground.

Not to give the story away for people but this is just my opinion.
It was like a darker and more graphic version of Gran Torino in a way.

I watched Elizabeth:The Golden Age last evening. Cate Blanchett was quite wonderful in it.
