Any Irish Pre-order Websites?

    Hi.

I have Pre-Ordered loads of games off Gamesnash.ie in the past and their excellent, Always had the game the day before release date.

I want to pre-order Killzone2 so I'll have it early,

Unfortunitly they wont have it in untill the week after its due to be released (Well they will but on special order and @ €70)

Anytime I have Pre-ordered from UK (Play, Shop-to Ect) I never get the game untill the next week.

Anyone got good experience with any other Irish companies with getting games early?

Are there any other Irish Mail order companies?

Failing that I can always book it at my local Smyths toystore but I prefer to mail order. Less hassle

    Hi rav1410,

Forgive me for hijacking this thread slightly but just wanted to clarify that the retail price for a special order is €62.99 - I assume your €70.00 is referring to an express post option etc.

The RRP in Ireland is €69.99 and the cost price that we have been quoted means we would have to retail it at €62.99 just to break even. ( This is one of a handful of Sony published games still being set at a RRP this high in Ireland ) We are sourcing stock from outside of our usual Irish distribution channels which will be retailing a lot cheaper. However this won't arrive to us in time for pre release day dispatch and therefore we have not put it up on our site for general pre order.

Let me get this straight, if I pre-order order SFIV from gamenash which is out on the 20th over here, I can get it on the 19th?????

If they have it available for Pre-order and you live in Ireland...Yes.

Not 100% of the time Im sure they will say just to cover themselves but any game I have pre-ordered with them in the past I have got the day before release day.

Well I already looked at the site and they do, and I live in dublin. rav1410 you don't work for them do you? :p

I admit I'm interested , yo gamenash, any chance you guys would get in the SFIV madcatz game pads? You know you guys would make a killing if you did.

Going to cover myself here and say not 100% of the time ;) - we try our best to dispatch pre orders on the Wed before the Fri release date so it can happen alright but its not something we could ever promise. Our own deliveries depending on what supplier it is land on Wednesdays or Thursdays and we tend to turn them around within an hour or two. What we do promise is dispatch at latest 24 hours before release day.

To be 100% honest ( which we are very fond of here :D ) we didn't get last weeks releases out until Friday though due to delays with the snow etc getting the deliveries into Ireland which was second time in a year and a half we missed the deadline. Either way we get our deliveries to Irish customers faster than any other web site because we ship from Ireland.

We will look into the game pads certainly - leave that with me for the moment.

If I preorder Resi 5 off Gamesnash... will regular post get it to me possibly a day early, or will I have to get express next day...?

Cheers, great price on resi too €46.99 Delivered.

Also play.com have KZ2 for 38.99 Delivered... compared to your 62.99... anyway you can update us on a price reduction as id prob preorder both at same time.

    Hi there,

We try to ship all pre orders as early as possible but there are a few factors that influence the delivery times. Stock usually arrives to us on a Wednesday before a Friday release date and we turn them around as quickly as possible. Sometimes we get them out on the Wed afternoon in time for the postage collection, other times they will ship on the thursday morning. The free standard delivery has a 90% next day delivery rate so if the game arrives early enough on Wed then there is a chance of free delivery arriving before release day. At the same time we prioritise picking and packing etc of the express postal orders as customers have paid extra so if its a case that stock arrives late on a Wed it may be that only the express post orders go out that afternoon and the regular post ships the following morning. We also can't make any promises about a pre release day delivery as that would cause problems with the publishers / suppliers.

Resident Evil is being published by capcom and they have set the RRP to €54.99 - a good €15.00 cheaper than Killzone 2's RRP that Sony have set here in Ireland. It's actually interesting in that as far as we understand it the RRP's for both titles are £44.99 and £49.99 in the UK. Won't say any more than that but do the maths on it

Because we are based in Ireland we are subject to the Irish RRP's and wholesale cost structure so in the case of killzone 2 we can't do it any cheaper than €62.99 if we get the stock through Irish channels whereas we can retail resident evil 5 at €46.99 through Capcoms Irish distributor. So we made the decision not to stock killzone 2 for general pre order as we just look rediculous versus the play.com price at that stage. If I was a customer looking at a €62.99 retail price from us and a €38.99 retail price over at play.com ( which is jaw dropping to be honest ) I'd be inclined to assume I was being ripped off. We're looking at retailing at €52.99 when our stock arrives. A couple of customers have asked us to get it for them for release day and don't mind paying the price and we're happy to do so.

i agree, is there any regulations for something like this?
killzone 2 is 29.99 gbp which is roughly 33.25 euro but play sells it for 38.99 euro and dont let you buy in sterling. Their prices are still quite good its just bloody annoying we have to pay more.

£32 on Sendit, but you can buy in Stg. They also do a much fairer conversion on euro.

What's the deal with www.videogamesplus.ca? Do they accept Irish laser and are they reliable?

Frankly, Sony Ireland are completely taking the piss with that RRP.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,095 ✭✭✭Liamario

I don't know whether they accept laser or not, but I do know that I've never had any problems with them. In fact I tend to receive items a lot quicker from them than from Play.com
Speaking of Street Fighter 4, anyone know where I can get my hands on the TE edition Arcade stick

How does the payment work when using a credit/debit card in Gamesnash?
It says on the site they use Worldpay, which I've never heard of. What's the process with them?

    Thanks.

    Thanks.

Worldpay is owned by the Royal Bank Of Scotland and are one of the largest online credit card processors in the world.

We made the decision when we launched NOT to process credit cards ourselves. The reason why is very simple - when a customer gives you their credit card details they are trusting you to keep their information secure. Your responsibillity does not end with making sure your employees are not acting criminally etc - you are responsible for keeping upto date with the latest in security technology. An SSL cert on a site merely encrypts the data you are typing in - if a professional hacker comes looking for your database details you need to know that your data is protected by the most up to date stringent security systems available.

When you make a payment at our site you have the choice to pay via paypal or by credit / debit card which is processed at worldpay. In both cases the payment transaction is handled at the relevant payment providers own websites on a state of the art security platform. Once the payment is completed you are redirected back to our site - at the same time as you arrive back paypal / worldpay send a message through to our servers that your payment has been made and your order is updated etc. It is a seamless part of the payment process. We also went for worldpay as they are the only online payment processors who will handle Irish laser cards.

Some sites handle the payment processing themselves and are big enough to have dedicated security personel in place - others like play.com have their payment processing integrated on their own site but handled by one of the larger banks.

Shockingly enough though we are aware of at least one site that is mentioned here in the gaming area regularly where your card details are entered directly to the site who then manually input them onto a credit card terminal. That means they have their credit card customers full details on a standard database, also on email and most likely on print outs from the site. That's a risk we would not be happy to take.

Care to name this site Gamesnash?

That does sound dodgy and I feel people deserve to know this information.

  • Company Representative Posts: 2,957 ✭✭✭Gamesnash.ie: Pat

Well even though it's not an Irish site I would be very wary of naming the particular site for legal reasons. Also I would not like to appear to be trying to score points over a competitor etc. I would also advise any members who know which site I am referring to not to name it for the same first reason !

All I will say is that if you are shopping on any internet site where you are not directed to another web site to process payment then you are looking at a site that is processing themselves. This can certainly be done by integrating with a payment processor but that's usually very clearly stated that payments are powered by etc etc. I think what you would also be looking for is retailers whos sites are being ran along with an actual physical store. At that point its very likely your details will be typed in manually onto the stores credit card terminal ( the reason being that the transaction charges for in store terminals are a lot lower than online due to the anti fraud devices employed with online payment processing )

The site I am referring to when you go to checkout you are clearly entering your details ( on an https url to be fair ) but it's actually quite obvious that your details are being submitted to that site itself as there are no payment processing delays. It is also built on a platform called oscommerce ( which we used to run off ourselves ) which has an option to take credit cards manually. What happens is that half your card number is stored in the database and half your card number is emailed to the store. If the stores administrator access is hacked at all - emails can be set up to email a second person, database can be viewed to get the other half and its open season on the credit cards. When I posted earlier about the full details being on database and email I was not clear that you would need access to both the database and the emails.

Just to be clear we always used offsite payment processing even when we were running on oscommerce. :)

just a quick one gamenash, im going to order street fighter off your site now but im just wondering which shipping method should i select to maybe have the chance of getting the game a day early????;) an post registered post or express?? im willing to pay for the delivery if i can get sf4 a day early!,which method should i select?, cheers

  • Company Representative Posts: 2,957 ✭✭✭Gamesnash.ie: Pat

I suppose your best chance is the express post in that all express post pre orders are picked first. If our delivery lands before 3pm on Wed your express post delivery will certainly get to you by Thursday. That said you could pay for an express post and have your next door neighbour go with free standard delivery and both get it on the same day. It really depends on when the stock arrives to us.

    No offense GamesNash.ie but i use http://www.videogamesplus.ca

I know we should be all sticking up for our local businesses but its every man for himself i think in a recession.

Delivers in 3 Days and the Canadian Dollar to Euro works out well.
    Link to SFIV
    $69.99 CDN = €35

There's a certain amount of irony in that post :D

No offence taken at all but there can be restrictions on online play with imported games ( depends on the publisher ) SFIV has not yet been confirmed as to if this is the case or not. You could end up only being able to play US / Canadian players online.

No - Irish stock gets shipped through the UK afaik - the Irish distributors are due to receive stock today / tomorrow. Some larger sites dealing directly with capcom would have had their deliveries shipped at same time as deliveries to wholesale distributors so they may get them in a day or two before we do.

Yea with rock band for example the US version doesnt work with Euro DLC i found this out after spending over 15 euros on useless DLC that wont work.

Absolutely, if you drop an email to requests@gamesnash.com or pm me we can provide you with the details on how to order it now for normal pre release day dispatch. We will have stock arriving late the following week which will be retailing €10.00 cheaper.

Well I've ordered Street Figther IV and taken the gamble on gamesnash.ie delivering early but I'm not too fussed as long as it arrives by the day of release, otherwise I be left tears for the whole weekend (you would not want that on your conscience now Gamesnash.ie :D)

This might be a retarded question, but just to make sure....I'm ordering it now, I'm assuming that means its pre-ordered and theres no special area I have to go to 'pre-order' it... ? Just wanna make sure this is not sent out on Friday instead.

Yep your order status changes to pre order as soon as one of the customer service receieves it - if you check it now it should say pre order. Your order will hopefully ship tomorrow afternoon.

:D The right honourable probably went over a lot of peoples heads but have to say made me laugh.

Noodler is correct in that orders placed up to and including when we receive the stock into us - usually the wed before a fri release - will be treated as pre orders, orders placed on the thursday are treated as normal stock orders and ship with the first available post collection after processing.

Just check my profile, look at my previous posts and count how many have the word in it versus those that do not. Thanks for the postitive feedback guys.

@Marko93 if you have some games to trade in swing by the site and fill in the trade in form. You might find you have enough credit to pay for Res Evil 5 leaving you free to get SF4 now. For the record we don't encourage gamers to take the day off school sick but with SF4 we do understand ;)
